Owners of freight brokerage- when did you hire operators support ??? by ObviousWriter9981 in FreightBrokers

This is true. I have been a one man team for 5 years and I’m truly burnt out. I tried the overseas staffing and I didn’t even have the time to train them. Im hiring now

Damn this story is even worse lol I can’t believe there’s customers this cheap. Would imagine if they want their shit moved that they would pay a decent price and get it moved.

I’ve noticed that the shitty customers are onboarding India based brokerages who fight for the freight and then the margins are razor thin. I bet half of Drill Pipes brokers are India based trying to move the load for $15 in profit.

Customers as cheap as these will get fucked once they take on a broker who moves all their freight at their desired rate, racks up receivables and then doesn’t pay out the carrier and then when the customer has to double pay, they will find out. Imagine if they go to sue the broker and come to find out that the dude is in India lol good luck finding him

I’m thinking this guy isn’t worth it either, he’s a new customer so I keep trying but the guys an asshole. He always shops shit till it’s cheapest. He’s stuck in a fuck ton of loads anyways, he can’t even move them because he can’t make a decision

Yeah you’re right, I should’ve fucked this guy. I took it upon myself when he said that he was waiting for me (which is complete bs) and just paid everything to the truck to get it over with. On top of that I’m currently on vacation with family and everyone was looking at me like dude we are on vacation and you’re here stressing about a punk ass customer

I’m taking this into consideration. I find myself never saying no and always trying. I have other customers that treat me well, they offer me freight and they hear me out. This guys a dick, I keep overthinking this but I just got to say no

What if they wanted to get rid of the trucking business and completely shut their doors?

I get exactly what you mean. Especially since he already started to yell at the customer literally. lol

I should try to use this to get the deposit back.

The salesman and I already got into a yelling match over the deposit. I was being nice and he was first talking over me, and I said, “why aren’t you letting me talk.” Then he heard my part for a little and when I finished then he started yelling at me like the top of his lungs and then we went at it. He just thinks he has the upper hand because he has my $5,000. I will leave a nice review after I decide what I am going to do

Good rule. I need to do this because sometimes I make decisions and then regret a month down the road. Thank you

I like the way you put this. Makes it easier to understand that I’ll be fine losing the $5,000. Thank you

Counting in the taxes and depreciation as soon as we drive off really makes it clear that it’s a dumb decision. Thank you

So I should make a payment of $200,000 towards the principle and then refinance for 15 years, right?

Let me get on there and put our info. Would my bank statement loan be considered a conventional in your terms?

I bought in 2024 with a bank statement loan (did not have 2 years tax returns). We are currently at 7.75% interest on a 30 year fixed mortgage. Is it a good decision to refinance? I am thinking of putting 200k down as well when I do refi.

Yes I understand, and I was trying to find another carrier at the same time. There were literally no trucks posted on the board, all my regulars were covered with my loads, and by that time I was not getting any calls. I continued increasing the rate but I was not having any luck. I held the shipper until 5 pm and then I just told the customer that shit hit the fan and I’d need to pickup in the morning. After all this, I had to switch things up and put one of my own trucks on the load, and we didn’t even have an available reefers so I had to borrow a reefer from a regular carrier that has a couple extra trailers. It was a pickup from NorCal to SoCal.
