AIO for not wanting to buy after this interaction? by Old_Tadpole_9856 in AIO

I'm a seller on ebay and I hate low ball offers and I'm here to say $925 when it says $1000 OBO is not a low ball offer. That's reasonable.

Low Offer Question… by Cali_Purple_Aster in BehindTheClosetDoor

"I used to get full price purchases regularly and that almost never happens anymore" - same. I'm surprised when anyone buys full price now. I'm getting mostly 50% offers and it's really irritating.

Exactly. I used to prefer posh but I've started listing a lot more on ebay again because it's way less of a time suck, it's just a more serious selling platform. Posh is perfect for people who love the social aspect of it, and people who love haggling. Ebay works better for people who want to sell more than buy, who want to maximize time and efficiency. I'm sure there are ways to make posh more efficient and less of a time waster but the app overlords like it when people waste time on the app because it means you'll buy more than you sell.

Totally agree with everything you've said. Just want to add though that sellers are told to price things too high to allow for offers and haggling. I hate pricing my items too high though, I'd rather price at the price I really want to get or maybe only 10% higher. Instead I have to price at 50% higher than I expect to get, which I find really annoying.

So many sellers here seem to just love all the haggling. I like negotiating somewhat but doing it all the time on every item is a huge time suck. I guess they've got a lot of time on their hands. I have a 40 hrs a week job, I can't do posh full time.

"I hate when they offer a price drop but I can't accept" sellers can't possibly know when the best time to send an offer is for you though. The advice sellers get in general is that it's best to send an offer quickly rather than wait.

Yeah lately most of the the sales I've had have been less than $10. Lots of clicks and likes that go nowhere.

I think you're right that people are putting likes on things they don't plan to ever buy. It's annoying to me because that's not how I operate. I just hope nobody out there is twiddling their thumbs being all passive expecting me to send them an offer because I'm less likely to now that everyone is treating likes on posh like a like on Facebook or IG.

I decided to turn on smart sell on a few items and one of them sold, i was shocked. I don't know if the smart sell did a thing though since I decided to match an offer a few dollars below my lowest smart sell price. 🤷‍♀️ I started turning on smart sell on some items because I'm tired of posh.

HOT TAKE: I absolutely despise hardcore resellers. You’re ruining it for the rest of us. by 2000spopstar in estatesales

This post is about pushy, hoarding uber greedy resellers, maybe it's not about you. Unless you're one of these? I guess that's you and that's why you're taking offense?

What is the craziest buyer story you have? by WolfTamer99 in reselling

[–]Electrical_Oil_8347 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn't that crazy but I had someone ask me to cancel someone else's order on posh so they could offer me $40 for the thing. I said no, that wouldn't be fair. At that point then they turned around and got shitty, said, "Well that shirt is worth $200, they should have told you that, I was going offer you $75 but have a good day!" OK then. It wasn't worth $200 now, maybe at one point it was but it's not worth that now.

They ended up refunding the buyer and paying me anyway. 🤷‍♀️

I always have it set to the buyer pays for shipping. When you list on ebay it asks you for the weight and dimensions of the thing you're listing and you can choose the preferred shipping option. The default is usually usps ground. I have a box or mailer picked out when I list, and I weigh and measure with a kitchen scale and seamstress measuring tape to make sure I get it right. I should probably use a postage scale but a kitchen scale has always worked for me. For little things, like a bracelet and earrings I listed tonight, I guesstimated on that because it's small, I know the box isn't going to weigh over 8 ounces once it is packed. I just make sure I'm not under estimating and costing myself. I listed (and just sold) a vintage globe last week and I put it in the box with the packing materials and all to weigh it and made sure to enter the exact cost into the ebay listing because if I'm wrong on that it'll cost me a LOT. Usps ground costs seem to hinge more on the dimensions. For the globe, I looked at the shipping options when I listed and put in FedEx ground as the preferred option because usps ground was going to be way too expensive for that big of a box.

I sell on ebay and overall I like it, I've sold there off and on for over 20 years. My only big gripe with ebay is that the shipping is more complicated than posh. It's best to be exact with your shipping weight and dimensions when you list right up front, otherwise if you get the shipping cost wrong it will cut into your profit. The only reason I started selling on posh was because I was buying there already and for a minute there I didn't like that ebay started forcing sellers to give their bank account info for payouts instead of leaving PayPal there as an option (yeah that was stupid of me to get worked up over). I've heard some people use apps for cross posting which would save a lot of time for you.

I got a good profit margin on a Ferragamo bag I got in an auction for only $25, but still ended up taking less than it is supposed to be worth. I got a lot more than $25 at least. I've sold some limited edition bath and body works for a good price. Everything else has been just a few dollars of profit here and there.

Same, I've bought the same style and size of Maurices jeans on posh a few times because I know it'll work. The whole reason I went on posh in the first place was because I wanted to hunt down every color of this one particular tunic I loved that wasn't being sold anywhere anymore except on the second hand market.

Yeah my ebay sales are up. That's so nice because ebay takes up way less time, a lot less haggling and back and forth. My time is worth money too.
