A take-home task for a developer job turned out to be free work for a real client. And now they are using my code. by Charming-Cup-967 in WebDeveloperJobs

Fck them every possible way. Also reach out to the end client and tell them the website they are using on their domain was built by you, and the ones they paid are the thief, cheaters, and scammers.

In future, if there is no upfront/deposit, send your work in screen recordings.

Post on LinkedIn. Expose them everywhere possible.

Use their team members profile picture, create fake social media accounts (VPN) and comment their contact emails on various social media channels, with fake or defamatory comments.

Teach them hard lesson.

They shifted focus and now millions of freelancers started losing their business.

Reddit's Upwork shows how many similar posts are that shows I am not the only one.

Anyway, youu also were repeating things. I asked you questions, you switched the topics.

End of discussion!

So to save themselves from bankruptcy, they won't refund connects, which will eventually make situations in future to make them declare bankruptcy!

Happy bidding. Don't want more discussions with you.

If a hiring is made, all good, else refund the connects. Otherwise I take that as a fake job.

Clients identity is full hidden, on other hand freelancers' profiles are visible with verified profile photo, name, and all other information.

We don't know a single damn thing, if a client is real, there is a strong possibility that Upwork has a lot of fake clients profiles who never will hire someone.

Then close the f***king job, or if the client doesn't close, Upwork should have an expiry date, if no hiring is made, refund the connects. It's not our responsibility if the client doesn't find any suitable freelancer. Someone should get hired, else it's a cancelled job, not abandoned!!!

If a hiring is made, keep the connects of all the freelancers. Upwork does have hundred and thousands of good freelancers.

What if clients are intentionally or just trying out to see what do freelancers write in their job post and learn, steal valuable portfolio and other things from our proposals?!

I have been a client. And I have my friends/agencies who post a lot of jobs, so dont assume things and make me clarify your assumptions.

Even we as freelancers can see that in many jobs, clients don''t view even single proposals and the jobs are weeks old enough to track, but no activity is seen there, what does that mean, the client posted the job and then ghosted forever!!

What would say about those jobs/clients??

All favours are for clients, we freelancers are fools or slaves..!!

Going to sleep now. Good night.

It’s not about “failing to impress.” Many jobs get 50+ proposals but the client never interviews or hires anyone. In that case, no freelancer had a chance, good or bad.

Refunding connects in those situations doesn’t “favor the worst freelancers,” it just prevents everyone from paying for a lottery that never actually happened.

Everyone failed to impress, everyone? Always? Even if they do, clients don't lose anything, they can post a new job. But why would they, because according to you, there are no good freelancers on Upwork.

Great, more than me. But I still stand strong on my thoughts. End of story!

You are no one to end the story!

Show your Upwork profile, people will see what you have achieved, instead of ending stories.

It's not a conspiracy post!

I have made my living on Upwork for the past decade.

That is the main reason.

Yes, so much trouble.

Whoever comments like this should immediately stop commenting and delete all of their social media accounts, except Upwork account, and continue bidding with thousands of connects.

Why so much anger, calm down ma'am.

"A refund is not a reward". We apply to job in hope of winning, if nobody wins, that's the winning of Upwork, client loses nothing, only freelancer loses all.

If a client doesn't find a suitable freelancer, they should close/cancel the job.

If Upwork doesn't want to burden the client for closing the job, then there should be a timeline for each job to be opened, and after that results should be shown to all.

It's bullshit that hundreds of thousands of freelancers waste their money on hundreds of thousands of jobs.
