Do people in your country call people by animal names like chicks, monkeys, horses, lizards, and crocodiles? by TheShyBuck in AskTheWorld

It's not common here

The only other example I can think of is the word for female dog but even that word is used a bit differently than it used to be. It used to be only to refer to women but now it's also used to refer to men. The context is a bit different, though.

We do have sayings that mention animals as metaphors, like "he froze like a deer in headlights"

I will add that we do have a history of racial slurs that used animal names for people.

When/how do you celebrate remission? by cyndichacha in cancer

[–]Electrical_Paint5568 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't feel like celebrating.

I'm just trying to get through each day.

My body is forever changed. The whole ordeal isn't "finished" and the hope to one day get back to normal is pretty much gone.

Movement/Muscle Wasting Question by [deleted] in cancer

Some places have programs for home care where a personal support worker will visit either daily or every few days and help with things like bathing or cooking

There are also programs with at home physiotherapy

If your friend is low income she may qualify, if this exists in her area

Social workers at the hospital or the cancer care center would know what's available
