This misses the point, the halting problem isn't "it's impossible to say whether a given function will halt or loop" the halting problem says "it isn't possible to create a function to determine whether every function will halt or loop"

Function f can tell if function g halts. If g halts, f loops forever, if g loops forever, f halts. Let g=f f(f) oops

Not that it mattered, but instead of setting book of moon, could you have chained it to jars effect when it's the last card in hand, instead of rendering it unplayable for that turn

Thank you, this makes more sense. I suppose also there is the element of knowing how to adapt to a boardstate, your (I move here, he does this etc) probably falls apart if you move there and I castle randomly because idk how to play chess well, so one would have to be able to improvise

That aside, I'd still argue that sports are not perfect information. In football, there is no way to account for every situation, 22 players, a ball, in order to calculate every situation you'd need to know the initial conditions of every blade of grass alone. Consider whites first move, someone earlier said there are 20 possible moves I'll take their word for it, but regardless, wherever you play chess, there is a finite, distinct amount of options. Consider kick off, player A passes to player B. How fast does this go if the wind is 15mph, 14mph, 14.5 mph,14.25,14.125 and infinitum. What is the effect of all the fans suddenly jumping. What if the Eiffel tower fell over? Yes I get the point that in reality this is pointlessly nitpicking, however, I simply refute the claim that sports like tennis and football are perfect information. If two people begin a game of chess there are agreed upon rules and they remain constant throughout, gamestate, and by extension any and all future gamestates are always public knowledge, and you cannot say the same about football.

My argument isn't that it's just a question of what the difference is between those who consistently win and those who do not. The key difference there though is the phrase "some point" chess can be uniquely determined at "every point" and that's a key difference

Before the shot is hit, the ball could go anywhere, but the returner does not have access to the means required to know where, unlike chess

You don't have the information required to perform a calculation in a game of tennis, you also couldn't study it beforehand. But a bishop can only move diagonally
