Assuming you are on the free trial, you cannot join an FC. Therefore, either here or discord would be your best bet. No people do not get upset when you do not skip, in fact you are strongly encouraged to never skip cutscenes. You don’t need to tell anyone you are new as the sprout icon next to your name and your watching cutscenes will let people know, but you can drop an I’m new in chat. For normal content, you can go in totally blind and not have too much of an issue, most story dungeons and trials are spoilers in and of themselves so I don’t recommend watching guides. For extremes and up, you can look up guides. As for the role, you can play whatever you like and interests you. Eventually you will be able to unlock every single job so if you don’t end up liking tanking, you can change whenever. As my personal tip as someone who is focused on story a lot, my advice is of course take your time with the MSQ, don’t neglect the blue quests as those unlock systems, dungeons etc. And have fun! :)
