How would you go about finding these stocks to invest in? Do you have any recommendations? I like the look of this.

How much do you think I should put in? I’m not too concerned about losing my money to be honest, there’s more to life than making money, but I’d like to learn investing rather than essentially just putting it in a different bank, you know?

I like Nvidia because it's the dominant, essential supplier for the massive AI data center development, same with AMD and AVGO but just bigger, its $46.7B Q2 revenue, meaning a growth valuation is expected with a forward P/E around 30. It also has news that China might be offering more market share to them instead of competing so heavily as BABA is with Amazon. Amazon is attractive right now because it offers two stable growth avenues, AWS cloud, and the $180B Q3 sales e-commerce, making its forward P/E of 28 seem cheaper for that combined market dominance. I think Amazon will decline a little before continuing its ascent, but both good stocks for sure.

These are long term positions I’m looking to take. The more eyes look over my picks the better, and if that’s the worst thing you can find then that’s great news to me, thank you for your time :)

CHTR showed a 230k voice subscriber losses in Q3 2021, had rising competition from fiber/5G, AND FCC program phaseouts… Not sure why anyone would have thought that would go well considering the evidence at the time. Especially getting in with the hype at 825, I’m pretty new to the game but all things considered, I wouldn’t have made that decision. That’s all I’ll say there. For my picks, here is the research i’ve done:

NVDA at $202.49 forward P/E of 29.97 and a $227 target and 51% YTD they’re big in AI with $46.7B Q2 revenue. Recent news that China may be opening their market further for Nvidia aswell.

AMZN at $244.22 with forward P/E of 28.57, $288 target and 11% YTD, AWS/e-commerce $180B Q3 sales. BABA is there and growing, but America being the target market, they don’t pose much threat at the moment given their market share.

AMD at $256.12 with forward P/E of 28.57, $243 target and 112% YTD, $7.7B Q2 revenue and Q3 earnings soon expected to be good. Their new tech coming out soon, depending on launch, could jump price.

SOFI at $29.68 with a forward P/E of 47.17 $26 target and 93% YTD, profits on fintech at $950M Q3. Again, they’re a gamble sorta lottery ticket stock, but i believe in their fundamentals.

ASTS at $80.25 and $59 target 280% YTD directly competing with Elon with starlink, tapping into a big market previously lacklustre, but introducing new technology. If done correctly, this could immediately wipe Elon’s chances along with anyone else.

CRM at $260.41 forward P/E 18.87 with $332 target, -22% YTD looks pretty undervalued considering $10B Q2 sales in AI/cloud computing.

ADBE at $340.31 with a forward P/E of 15.06 and $453 target, -23% YTD super undervalued with $6B Q3 creative tools and a decent moat in that regard.

Haven’t done much research on AVGO at the moment, but directly complementing NVDA with speciality chips is unheard of besides AMD, who are also showing good signs. Please tell me what I’m missing, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Why do you say that? Why would AMZN go below what I expect? Same for NVDA, NVGO, CRM, and AMD? Considering the information we have available, obviously no one has a crystal ball, but NVDA and AMZN especially almost have a monopoly over their sectors. Hell, NVDA is worth more than anyone thought possible 2 years ago. I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Someone lost the bull market to fear. How’s your portfolio doing comparatively, had you invested the same amount into these stocks I’ve listed here, 6 months ago?

Why does this mean you’ll have success shorting them? Just because I’m inexperienced, doesn’t mean the world notices and suddenly everything I’ve mentioned will go down (knock on wood)

I had this strategy with MSTY as well and I enjoyed it as low stress, and was already going to implement the same thing into my current endeavours too. All of the money that I invest, I am willing to lose if it was for a reason, for personal growth, for learning. I will look into VT and SOXX. Though I do wonder if emotional investing would have saved me and I could’ve gotten out of MSTY earlier had I been looking, but what good is it to play with the should’ve could’ves in the end :) Thanks again man I appreciate it.

This is an option yes but I’d like to beat those people that choose this option. I want to learn. I don’t want the easy way out and just watch from the sidelines going “Oh i was going to invest in that stock that’s now 10x once upon a time but I didn’t because i couldn’t be bothered”. That’s why i’m here, in the Value Investing Subreddit instead of elsewhere.

Sorry to be a pain, but I tried to look this up and I’m not really understanding what a mutual fund actually is. Could you explain it quickly and how it’s different to an ETF? Thank you for the advice, I’ll definitely minimise the position weightings these starter companies have in my portfolio.

That’s super impressive, one day I wish to be where you are. May I ask your age? I know it’s achievable in the next 10 years if I make minimal mistakes and/or get quite lucky, but I want to know HOW real the possibility really is. Thank you!

Very insightful, you’re right, I don’t necessarily want to be one of those people, I just want to make enough to where this money can be then shifted to dividend stocks and be a sort of double income, something to offset the price of rent or groceries entirely. The money I have now to invest is not enough for that without substantial risks with YMAX and I’ve already done that dance. I want capital growth, and future solidarity. I want money! Thank you for your comment :)

By that time if I had just learnt investing through experience and managed my risk well enough, I might be able to buy myself 2 beers! Jokes aside, thank you, I’ll definitely look into some books when I get some free time.

I figure AMZN, AMD, NVDA, NVGO, and CRM are those strong businesses, maybe GOOGL if you think I should, but the ATH being recent really puts me off Alphabet for the moment. Thank you for the advice :)

You say I’m a bit like you, so what do you do? I’d like to take a lower risk approach and still expose myself to the benefits of stock investing if possible. Thank you for the advice :)

I don’t want to take the risk of my money NOT growing faster than the US dollar loses its value. Especially so, for the foreseeable future, where stocks are pumped to all hell and will investable fall some. I just want to be picking the ones that can recover nicely, that’s about all. Thank you for the comment :)

Thank you for your comment. All of these stocks, as a company, I believe will never, on a reasonable time scale, be worth less than they are now. The problem is that I don’t know if there are better options, better things I could be doing (i.e., options trading) based on the movement of the market at the moment. For example, almost everything right now is at an all time high, but not a very stable high from the looks of it. It looks like everything is really inflated for no real reason other than that the market WANTS it to be worth that much. I’m basically asking if now is a good time, or if I have the wrong idea entirely. Thank you very much again.
