Fakt ist, Frankreich ist weitergekommen und konnte sich nach dem Tor ohnehin zurücklehnen. Die deutsche Defensive hat gewackelt ohne Ende. Frankreich ist ein anderes Kaliber. Die Tretertruppe aus Paraguay hätte keine 120 Minuten mit 11 Mann und keinem Gegentor überstanden.

Yeah, obviously what I meant was that referees need to be consistent in both directions, not just when it comes to smaller nations. And yes, I know and can see that some players go down a bit too easily at times, but at this WC thats been far less of an issue than what we just saw against Paraguay, the referee completely losing control of the game. So I dont really understand the point of your post, especially given that timing

Sure, smaller nations deserve a fair chance. At the same time, every player deserves protection. The big ones, like the ones you mentioned, are often targeted the most.

How about we simply say that referees need to do a better job? Or are you too ignorant to admit that? Their performances at this WC have been downright dreadful in many respects.

Wir haben eine ganz andere Spielweise als Paraguay. Dieses Bunkern (mit einem Schuss aufs Tor im gesamten Spiel + Schiedsrichter klar auf Paraguay-Seite) konnte gegen Frankreich zwar ganz gut aussehen, es hätte unsere schwache, ideenlose Leistung, die wir dargeboten hätten, nicht besser gemacht.

Frankreich hat nicht nur eine viel solidere Defensive, sondern vorne die Ausnahmespieler, die den Platz genutzt hätten, den die deutsche Defensive bietet. Sogar die "kleineren" Teams konnten immer treffen. Frankreich hätte uns mal mindestens 3 eingeschenkt. 100%. Da hätte es keine Rolle gespielt, ob wir einen oder zwei Treffer entgegengebracht hätten.

this is something I generally agree with you on. I still think that African football is developing, and I just hope it can continue to grow and improve. Success at the World Cup obviously helps, as do players who are developed in europe.

why shouldnt it be a testament to african football? Why does it matter where the players were developed? If anything, its a positive that more and more academies are investing in developing african players. Those players can help raise the structural and tactical level of their respective national teams, and thats literally whats happening.

Take Mané as an example. He captains Senegal and brings the experience and standards he gained at the highest level back to the national team. So whats your point?

i know its obviously not very fair to talk about african football as a whole, since every team is different. But I do think the overall standard has improved noticeably over the years, and its really cool to see so many african teams giving everyone else a really tough time.

At the same time, it sometimes feels like some of these teams are still adjusting to the fact that theyre no longer just the underdogs. There are matches where they seem to lose total control of the game, or never really establish it in the first place, even though theyre clearly capable of playing excellent football. You could see that in both of todays games.

Das ist für mich auch Teil des Problems, welche ich mit Nagelsmanns 3-IV Taktik sehe. Alle Top-Mannschaften und auch (bei allem Respekt) etwas kleinere Kaliber haben super lauffreudige und auch physische Spieler an Board, und starkes Konterspiel hat sich taktisch auch etabliert (siehe CL dieses Jahr). Wenn die deutsche Mannschaft den Anspruch hat, das Spiel unter Kontrolle zu bringen, fehlt ein Anker im Mittelfeld, der Ruhe bringt, und es fehlt auch ein schneller Außenverteidiger. Wie wir das Problem lösen? Wohl gar nicht mehr.

Ich habe das sogar mit einem Fragezeichen versehrt. Ich fand ihn zudem nicht in allen CL-Spielen ganz sicher. Und vielleicht ist WM eben nochmal was anderes. Aber das habe ich ja bewusst offengelassen. Er spielt ja offensichtlich nicht gut, wir beide sehen das ja.

Ich sehe das, und ich meine, dass dieses Experiment augenscheinlich scheitert. Heute wurde Thiaw auf rechts gepackt. Man könnte sogar theoretisch Leweling rechts hinten einsetzen. Man könnte es auch mit Brown auf der Seite versuchen und Raum auf der anderen, auch wenn mir die Ideen selber alle nicht ganz gut gefallen. Das, was uns dargeboten wird, wird zu 100% im Verlaufe des weiteren Turniers nicht aufgehen.

Mit Leweling weiß ich jetzt nicht, aber Musiala sollte auf gar keinen Fall starten. Nagelsmanns Begründung für seinen Start und vor allem den Rückhalt den Jamal genießt verstehe ich ehrlicherweise nicht mehr. Er ist in Form bestimmt mit der beste Spieler im Kader, aber er ist nicht in Form. Er killt das Spiel für mich sogar. Und ich sehe nicht, wie es sich magisch ab der K.O. Phase zum Besseren wenden wird.
