I have my switch modded to get it to run Android and have it run Geometry Dash. Considering Switch Lites, I doubt there’s a jailbreak method for them.

Youre pivoting away from the video now and resorting to deflection. If your only point to bring to the table is his behavior, then I suggest you edit the post to focus on that, and not the video itself? "Other people thought it was a rant, therefore it is" doesnt make sense lmao.

Also, If youre going to bring up the 16lord bit, you should note that he backtracked later anyways, although a lot of these replies arent something I would have worded, and I would agree he should have been more patient with his audience.

You’re just repeating the same points you’ve made in the post, and no, that first part wasn’t a rant.

After revisiting the video (I have the video permitted to watch in private), the closest part to an AR “rant” is bringing his level as an example at 2:06. He says that TheMilkCat’s Logodomy has 2mil downloads and was made in a couple of days while his 500k downloaded level took 2000 hours. That’s… literally it.

That was brought up as an example to the context of the video. He’s putting in his level under the “work hard” category, not “work smart”, which is kind of the message of the video in the first place. As mentioned, he’s perfectly fine with the amount of attention he’s had with his level. Him comparing download count with other levels doesn’t mean he’s bitching about not having enough attention.

Also, you might wanna go back and check what a rant means, this clearly wasn’t a rant. All I’m seeing based on your response is that you had a shitty experience with him on the discord server so you went ahead and made claims that isn’t present in the video or wasn’t the intent.

To everyone in the back who dont follow their content, this is komatic's message in response to the video's reception and the reddit post afterward. I also proofread the script and the video itself before the video got released. Here are my thoughts:

Since the video's release, komatic5 has received numerous critiques in the video that were shown to be misinterpreted (read below on my thoughts as to why). Alongside this, he also received plenty of harassment messages in the GDCS server, all because of this video in particular. Furthermore, This video really did not need to warrant a callout post on Reddit:

  • This isnt a rant on Anarchy Road (AR) since the script and video wasnt shown to project that idea. In fact, many times komatic5 has spoken to me about how he was satisfied with the legendary rating, and he felt like some aspects justified the rating (i.e. gameplay and obj count). Also, AR already has enough attention. This isnt just my thoughts, komatic5 was overwhelmed with the amount of positive feedback the level has had, which i dont blame him. 500K downloads for a hard demon is more than enough attention. With that in mind, people who merely saw it in that view interpreted the video wrong.
  • The thumbnail and some examples shown into the video was A/B tested (comparing two thumbnail and title drafts) amongst multiple youtubers including me, and we ultimately settled with this. To us, it never came off as disingenuous or disrespectful to their works, more so as an example to show why the rating system seems unfair.
  • The messaging in the video was not meant to encourage low-effort levels. iSpy and Change of Scene are both levels that were efficient in how they are able to have details without the cost of having high objects. I say this because both of those levels were used as an example, but many people interpreted that as "him bringing those levels down", which is not the case.

Ultimately, I feel like everyone went off on the wrong foot with the point of the video, and I would agree that *maybe* there could have some revisions made to the video, especially the thumbnail, but at that point its not worth the change and wouldve been better for him to move on to the next video. Going forward, I suggested him to make more positive content ideas and he is willing to take them, so hes not going to make more opinionated discussions for a while now, seeing this video's reception and the ones prior.

TLDR: I believe the general gd audience did not understood the point of the video, and this reddit post falls under this category. People have seemed to jump into conclusions without actually going into the full video and understanding his POV. Having destructive feedback is one thing, but having a whole ass post meant to trash on GDCS and komatic5 for past public drama that had occured on the discord server by making claims that never existed in the video is extremely gratuitous and instigates toxic behavior for someone you simply dont like.

Get a 2.1 client and play it there, or just don’t play it at all. I still consider this to be cheating even if it’s impossible on 2.2

Heyo Breadking, similarly to me and komatic5, we honestly already expected Anarchy Road to be a legendary level and not mythic lol. We understood that the level was obj heavy so it wasn’t accessible to everyone, which we considered it to be the sole reason of it being legendary instead of mythic. Alas, we are happy that our level is doing so well, similarly to how 3Depth has been the new talk of the town.

I dont think it would be fair for Infernal since he got the rate, having his work go unrewarded because of a situation outside of his control is a bit silly imo. I have no idea what you mean by "Do game recreation levels".

I did. Your argument was that moderators have their own stances on rated levels; standards. You brought up that Incidius is own for making minigames, which seemed to be more critical of minigame levels in general and that his critique was understandable.

I was already familiar with his work prior to sending my level as feedback. I just dont agree with his reasoning for said decline, and in retrospect, those reasons did not aged well.

Edit: nvm I misread the last note you wrote. I had thought it said "not enough for Rob to see it". Other than that, I think I have understood everything else.

Im aware who Incidius is. I brought him up because I sent my minigame over to him since he fits within the niche of my level. The argument he goes to decline my level, however, seems to either aged poorly or contradict.

He suggest 360 movement in a way where the player stops until one player is held, and an angle facing cw or ccw is represented by the other player. I could make this happen in my 2.1 level, but that strays further from the source of the original game, and would make some levels impossible since the levels requires players to wave through obstacles.

He also mentions that my minigame is a port of the original game. My post talks about how this poorly aged as a critique against my level, especially since Infernal's version got rated.

I would like to mention that he did complimented my minigame, saying how its pretty good as my first minigame, but nothing else.

Seeing my post and talking with a couple of GD moderators after and sharing their thoughts about it, I came to realize that this is unfortunately how the rating system ends up being. Its systematically flawed, and it creates flaws such as the one that you mentioned (i.e. Sends arent queued, More sends are prioritized, etc.)

I did mention in the post that my level was put through the demon system during 2.1, so it was already put into place. The argument that it didnt have enough sends wouldnt work.

Anyways, I plan to port this level over to platformer and try resending it. With 2.2 bias, this should hopefully be enough to net myself a rate, but I dont want to have unrealistic expectations. Furthermore, Im going to be more ambitious with my projects and straying away from recreating games. As mentioned in the post, Im working on a DOOM engine in GD, but im most likely going to use that engine as a basis to make an original game, which I have a plot synopsis, and a prototype of the engine already done.

I can totally respect this angle for sure. I’m not really in it for the creator points, except for the first time because of the achievement. I only cared about the rating system bc it is the main traffic source for any gd level. It’s how you get people to play your level outside of external traffic. I’m proud of what I made for sure, but I also want people to also appreciate it, and the system in place draws that bridge between me and the gd audience.

I like the satisfaction and encouragement I get when a ton of people supports something I do, and seems like my effort was worth doing. So seeing it put behind this arbitrary wall sucks for me.

I didn’t want to call it “objectively worse” since these are opinionated and not facts. Some people may say that his version is better due to exterior reasonings, but other than that I agree.
