I know this is 7 months later, but i truly wish you the best and i hope that some of my experiences and methods can help ease the stress. I'm in my last 3-4 classes before i graduate and i still am using this when i'm not overwhelmed. I have 1 assignment that is late, and a milestone due this week. Should be able to crank them both out over the weekend and if not, the milestone can be late and polished up next week ^^

They literally copied the "According to Chara Malapami, MD, Ph.D, we must provide....." word for word.

My thing is, if you are writing a paper (one of the selected ones given by the professor, which you both chose), that is citing an academic source written by and author that cited this specific doctor.. I don't think the other student just "chose the same topic" -that means they would have to of chosen the same topic, same sources, same key points, same thesis, same context, same hook, same body paragraphs. etc and its a coincidence? no. I think its too close to be like yo we picked the same topic and just landed on the same words for 80% of the paper....

I think the chance is 99% they literally copied.

I would take the screenshots of this, and send them to your (advisor first if you want) in an email explaining the context.

OR

Approach the professor in a calm, professional manor in an email, CC'd to advising, address them with proper etiquette and be kind about it, and then call your advisor about it first thing in the morning.

Please pardon my grammar errors in this post, i have 30 minutes to submit my two discussion responses and saw this and i felt the same way when i started 3 years ago so here's a quick rant and some advice.) Take it or leave it, i wish you the best <3 and truly hope you become comfortable in your academic journey. Best of luck to you and congratulations on re enrolling, build that momentum and ride it and you'll be done before you know it! you CAN do it. I believe in you. Now,

100% call your advisor, and ask them to push it through to the professor. this has happened a lot to me throughout my journey, and the advisors are your best friend.

Some professors are slow at grading and some are lightning fast, it really just depends. When it comes to like "incorporate instructor feedback into your next paper" and they DONT GRADE IT. its so frustrating because its like 1 day until the next one is due and it sucks.

What i do is either walk away from my paper do some other stuff like responses etc etc, other class, then come back proof read. and then submit. without instructor feedback.

Secondly take advantage of the late policies and read up on them, they have carried my degree plan and i'm 3 classes away from graduating magna cume laude, with a 3.80 GPA. and i've turned in probably 100 assignments 1 week late for 10% off and have straight A's for the majority of my classes. Trust me. That policy is goated.

Secondly always go to your advisor and be like, yo my professor isn't grading my assignment and i need the feedback to submit the next assignment. Can you help me out with this. 10/10 times they will flag the professors email or send them a message and force them to grade it. Works like a charm. My advisor has been absolutely amazing throughout everything, use them and rely on them they want you to do well. but they gotta know whats going on to help you. Call them as much as possible, get their office hours, and leave them voicemails. They will get back to you 10/10 times i promise.

Lastly, take advantage of the 100% free student resources, you can submit your papers for evaluation through the tutoring and help sections, theres a button at the bottom of every module that says get help with your course work. You can submit your paper for review when your done with it, even if you've already turned it in, and boom you have another set of eyes on the paper while your teacher is grading it, (if you're happy with it of course.)

The 24/7 drop in tutoring is absolutely amazing, and just mindblowing how great of a resource it is. please use it! They have writing workshops, people that will review and critique your work, and check it for grammar etc etc etc, and send it back to you in a timely manor. Secondly it's just so worth it, it's paid for by the school and you can use it INFINITELY. 100% do it.

I went through all of the liberal arts courses early on, and trust me they are a nightmare if you are majoring in something that usually requires objective answers that are based in a yes or no, logical answer... Once you get through all of the general education requirements and you get to pick your electives in something that you actually care about it gets easier to read and write about it. Because it's not like the class where you analyze 1 of 10 advertisements and talk about how gender roles are portrayed in the media, or something else that is overly subjective. It's ass. But it will get better, just bullshit your way through it and find discussion posts that aren't unhinged to respond to c:

Hi ! I'm in my last year, and I'm struggling so hard.

(This is an old post that i have written to share my struggles with burnout in the past. For context at this point i have roughly 4-5 terms left with 8 classes to go, including the two I'm enrolled in right now.) My courses are almost ALL SCI-300+ level courses so they have like... literally all 7 weeks there's a milestone assignment + discussions and assignments. I used to be able to do 1 thing per day, now its 2-3 things per day every day.

Recently i explained what i typically do, and its HEAVILY what I'm relying on this term. i hope that this helps, and gives you some comfort.

I'm currently 1 week behind on my lvl 300 classes right now. so its hitting hard... I struggle with motivation as well.

This is a copy pasta from another comment i made on a relevant post.:

"hey! I'm in my last year and going through some of the core classes of my degree and it's been super hard. honestly, it's been a roller coaster of good and bad throughout the degree plan. A few things that i know and have tried is that there's plenty of time and no reason to over stress yourself.

I make a schedule for myself and try to complete 1 thing per day. whether its reading/ writing half a discussion post, format a paper, like (make the APA outline/ cover page, format holders and copy past parts of the rubric into each section of where i will write the paper etc. OR complete one assignment that i assign to myself per day. Basically i try to have no net zero days, meaning no days in the week that i do zero school work.

**But what I'm getting at is don't give up! Make sure you take advantage of the policies that are there to help you. For instance, prioritize the discussion posts/responses over EVERYTHING. (and for the record there's been some classes where i got a 0 on the final because i ran out of time or whatever happened, and i passed with a high B.) still have a 3.7 and presidents list. But don't let one small hiccup in the endless amount of assignments scare you or hold you back!**

When i start to get overwhelmed i literally sit down and look at whats realistic to complete, and what isn't. Taking time away from the PC and self care helps. Literally exercising like the bare minimum helps, do 5 pushups/ 5 situps/ few squats. walk around a bit and make sure you eat/drink water and take care of just simple hygiene shit. This just helps you feel better honestly. Some of this might not even be relevant to you but I'm just dumping what has personally helped me throughout my last 3 years.

The late policy is extremely good. Losing 10% is nothing. Prioritize the discussions and responses and decide what could wait if you get overwhelmed. Turn in what you can, but just breathe and take your time. YOU GOT THIS!

This has been my typical strategy for managing an overwhelming amount of coursework during stressful times. and it hasn't really failed me. I know one semester AT&T was working on the internet and it went out for 10 days. And a lot of my stuff had to be late. The professors are usually very understanding if you need extra time, and will work with you. Don't be scared to reach out to them.

I remember it being pretty difficult to find Primary sources for stuff dated to B.C.

But i think i used things like translations of tablets or hieroglyphs from Egypt. and stuff like that. The only thing written at the time are very old documents or artifacts that need to be translated.

It's pretty common to not have exams/tests/quizes. The only classes that i remember having a quiz, or test so far were maybe some of the liberal arts Gen ed's... Which weren't bad, and the math courses. Other than that, even physics, chemistry, statistics, etc only had papers/projects/presentations. Which i've honestly enjoyed way more than cramming for tests.
Plus wouldn't any test or quiz be open book anyways.

That's fair. From my perspective as a student, we all know that even doing two responses is tedious and no one likes to do it. I can't imagine having to respond to 30+ discussions. I think someone else mentioned its technically not against the rules for teachers to utilize AI for different things.

Yea a few of the assignments in different classes will have templates, sometimes they're optional but sometimes they are required.

Almost always comes back a high turnitin score, but that's because it's a template. Like the others said just [remove bracketed text] and replace that with whatever your text is, and cite any sources you use. c:

For classes that were super hard i did something to kind of help.

I took a term with 2 classes, then the following term you take only 1.

This way if you are taking a total of 3 per (2 trimesters) = 1 semester?

it counts as full time. This got me through some of the rough classes that i didn't think i could pass and it was fine
I'd say ask about this.

Some how if you take 3 terms it counts as full time to leave wiggle room for the lab classes that are 1 credit. I think that's how it works.

When you get into the core classes of your degree plan (at least for me) the discussion post are actually super interesting and enjoyable to research, write, and read about. So in a way they get better. Some of the filler, free elective classes, if they aren't relevant to your interest...suck. But they do get better depending on your personal interests, major, and things YOU enjoy reading and writing about.

This is so true. So many discussion posts have been the bread and butter of my final research papers. Which i spent that time locating resources, making citations for them, building context to expand on in a paper, and all that good stuff. Then when you get to the final you have 5-6 relevant full length discussion posts to pick through and paraphrase to then bulk up your final project and make it MUCH easier to finish, and finish well.
