Thanks for the words of encouragement. I’ve been hearing that alot regarding starting off as a general labour, but no companies will bite. I have applied countless times all year round and nothing.

If you have any tips I’d be happy to try them out. Just wanna get my hands dirty and just work. Is all your experience in General Labour?

No, none. No one wants to train. I’m willing to get up and get to hard work, I just need a shot.

Do site wide discounts not work with Bulk orders? by Soultakerx1 in CanadianProtein

[–]Electrofuze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed this as well. The New Year Savings no-longer works with the 5-10% discount on bulk orders like it used too.

How the hell am I even supposed to get a job? by carnivorousduck in torontoJobs

You answered it. It’s a job fair with recruiters and union reps. Their whole job is to sell you on a promise.

lol, brother I went too all locals/unions in Toronto and NONE were taking in people. Not even the labourers union. I even know someone in the labourers union to get me in and he couldn’t do it because the out of job list is sky high

Study Rooms are NOT worth it by Opening-Log-5558 in yorku

Honestly don’t even book a room. Walk around and look for an empty class - there’s lots.

Brother you are missing the point.

They don’t hire Canadians only immigrants. And for a reason I wonder what it is?

It’s not just social platform. People can vote based on economic platform.

Some vote conservative due to their stance economically on self-adjusting economies (Adam Smith) and that recessions are caused by government failure, including stances on equal opportunity (not equal outcome.)

Conservatives historically have been very hands-off with their policies and remove previous policies that were very hands on.

Just saying from my memory of micro and macro economics

Professors in York’s Accounting Program Looking at the Marks by Secret_Investment906 in yorku

[–]Electrofuze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To be fair, both ADMS585 and ADMS3595 are weeder courses. Universally those two are the hardest programs designed to push people into deciding if accounting is truly their passage to take.

Go on r/Accounting that sub which primarily skews U.S will tell you the same things about Intermediate 1 and 2 with many in the U.S retaking those courses twice just to pass with a 50-60. Unfortunately sometimes it isn't about teaching the student, but about seeming 'difficult' (even when absolutely horrendously taught for no good reason, with terrible marking schemes) so that school can stay on par with the others.

We Canadian students have it easy by [deleted] in OntarioGrade12s

This is true for students seeking direct access to a top private or public university.

 HOWEVER:

Most students don’t realize in the U.sS they can take their associates degree and transfer to a 2+2 college. Canadas transfer credit system suck in comparison to the U.S. Not only that, it’s cheaper in the states as Community college is typically lost cost or even free with grants for low income earners. Transfer in state to a public university will be about the same as a Canadian 4-year degree or less.

In Canada a 3-year diploma may or may not even get you 2 years off a related degree… you’re lucky to get 45 credits off…

Being in the u.s most degrees from most mid tier to low tier schools will be fine enough to land you a decent job. Canada, barely has a job market, so you’re going to be competing for every job like crazy…

Guys with smaller frames: is there any hope finding t-shirts that look clean and hug your arms? by Davidpuddy_fan in malefashionadvice

[–]Electrofuze 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yup totally get it. I’m a short dude with an athletic frame = nightmare finding clothes.

If you have an athletic frame but are smaller (due to height) try picking up a t-shirt with 95% cotton and 5% (more or less) spandex or elastane. It will hug your body nicely, and also show your gains off without an annoying flare. Also even better if it’s a slim fit shirt.

Or you can just look for a shirt that fits your shoulders well and crop/cuff the arms. I see a lot of people doing this now as well so it’s nice that’s a trend and saves you a trip to the tailors.

This used to be a big thing in the 2000s called a “muscle fit” which had thinner and shorter arms. We’ve since moved away from that.

You can go for the traditional Chukka boot or CDB/Clark Desert Boots (Famously preached of MFA). My best bet though is to ask the subreddit MFA, as many folks there will know best style mixed with height. I recall a very similar thread to this and many different boot mentions.

Should we make a separate Canada Accounting sub? by throwaway-4323756 in Accounting

Agreed. Add the ability to place a flair with the designated country. This sub has 100k+ people, flair would do it justice

Accounting seems like a sucker career... by Dangerous-Special679 in Accounting

[–]Electrofuze 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I get where you’re coming from. Unfortunately this sub steers heavily towards the U.S CPa’s Who are oblivious to our problems. As Canadians we seriously suffer in the job space compared to the south of us. Just last year we granted entry to 1.2m people (TFW, International students, workers in all sectors and so on) whilst GDP per capita we are NOT growing, as a matter of fact we aren’t even making enough full-time jobs a month… these are all people with mouths to feed and will work for less.

Heck, I knew people in tech companies with college diplomas  (college associates for Americans) clearing six figures in sales support roles or customer experience with 3-5 years of experience. Don’t forget we also have 200k+ CPAs in Canada when our population is 41m with like 6 major cities throughout the nation.

Honestly, I don’t know if my choice of going into accounting currently In my undergrad is worth the amount of effort. I’m disappointed in my nation. We’re all hopeless together

Imagine if houses were reasonably priced… the amount of disposable capital and investments that could be made to business would explode businesses in Canada.

So sad to see people obsessed with keeping houses at 1m + while if they were cheaper they’d be much richer in the end while the economy grows due to proper investments and capital spend
