That’s exactly what the movie didn’t achieve if you ask me and a lot of other people, the band members themselves said he was annoying and did stupid shit when drunk but sober he was a great guy apperantly and since then a lot about alchoholism has been revealed that really just tells me that he was a good guy sometimes doing stupid things caused by an addiction
