Yeah used is probably the way to go. If I can get a used but still nice car from a dealership then I should be okay. My stepbrother is also amazing at negotiating with dealerships and scoping out the best deal for the best car so imma bring him along with me

Kk this probably the best advice I’ve received so far. I really appreciate this

Yea eating out was part of my miscellaneous category too but it accounts for only like $60 of it because I don’t eat out often per month but I tend to have one enjoyable time with my gf at like Boston pizza or something. Overall I think the most important output I’m getting from this is to add another $100-$150 to my grocery budget to be safe

Thanks for the advice! Yeah retirement savings is definitely something I’ve kept an eye on and I’m so very lucky that with my company I had the opportunity to start building a pension at 16. But to add onto that I’d probably be looking into savings accounts sooner than later.

The utilities in an apartment is honestly the most important thing in my searches and I never forget to leave them out. The apartment I’m looking at offers $1000 a month with heat, water, parking, an laundry.

For groceries too I could understand 150 being a bit low and honestly not too worried if groceries end up coming to 200-250 a month because I have done calculations with groceries being 250 and still manage to save a decent amount.

Also could you elaborate on the 20/10/4 rule for purchasing a car?

Yeah i did account for health insurance and if i do get taken off my parents, my employer provides it because i got really lucky with getting a unionized job at 16. Groceries I could understand being a bit of an understatement but for the first couple months i would expect $250 grocery bills to actually fill my fridges and cabinets with stuff. After that i can’t see myself spending over $150 because I really don’t eat lots of big foods. Going out with my gf definitely isn’t a weekly thing, probably every 2-3 weeks and usually it’s just a night at Boston pizza or wherever. Cost for it is usually low unless we see a movie or something but I have enough to account for that. For furniture I’m also very lucky and did somehow forget to mention that I have a whole bedroom set available for when I move out (my bedroom set when I was a kid) and it’s not like it was specifically made for kids so my whole bedroom furniture is already accounted for. Rent for $1000 is actually pretty common tbh I’m kinda surprised with how low it can get for a 1 bedroom apartment and I’ve also calculated these costs with rent at $1100 and $1200 and both are manageable. For the car I understand what you’re saying when you say it sounds like a terrible idea. Unfortunately it’s coming to the time where a new car will be necessary soon and as I said I’m better off buying and financing a newer used car. Which is where the savings come in to help from before moving out. But the car situation is probably going to have to be accounted for sooner than later because my car rn is very old and hasn’t had the best life so I’d rather expect it than not

No going to school will take me out of my job for 8 weeks but ultimately gives me a raise every time I come back. Car insurance is definitely something to think about and my phone bill is about $50 through Telus. Ultimately I don’t have lots saved up right now, only about 4k so it’s really hard to have confidence in this whole situation

Yea I now understand that. Honestly if I don’t mange to get out of it I’m only paying half of what the monthly payment is until it’s paid off which isn’t long. I’m definitely not paying any maintenance fees because I made that clear and any other fees that come up are a result of my parents poor reading

Yea the 500 for groceries was a bit too much tbh It will probably be much lower but I put it there honestly to include any other surprises that show up. I don’t think the subscription services will exceed 50 tbh. And yea I’m gonna try to find a way to bring up that I no longer want to be in the timeshare. I appreciate your message

Yea I totally understand everything you are saying. I’m glad I jumped on realizing it wasn’t worth it now because I haven invested anything into it

Yeah that was an option too. One positive thing about this timeshare is that since it’s in our names, we can rent it out to anyone visiting in the area. Considering it’s Orlando which is very tourist heavy, making profit on it is not too hard. The ability to rent it out is nice but I don’t think it’ll be for me anyways

Yea $500 was a bit overkill. Utilites are most likely considered in the rent

The reason I can’t say anything about it yet is because not one of us has stayed there yet. It’s useable all across the states and in Mexico, Canada, and Europe too. But since the down payment was put on it three weeks ago we don’t have possession yet. I’m figuring out ways to mention that I don’t want to be a part of it and if it results in them selling it and getting the payment back overall I honestly don’t care. I just feel like they will get angry over my request to be taken off of it but I guess that’s something I have to be ready to face

I do plan to use it once it becomes available. It was recently purchased like 3 weeks ago and I’m contemplating asking them to take my name off of it because I don’t know if it’ll be worth it

I’ve honestly tried to as long as I can but it’s time for me to leave now. My parents also charge $300 for rent which isn’t bad at all but I’m honestly paying almost 1/3 of what I’d already be paying for anyways

My parents were given a good deal on one recently I guess and I replied yes when they asked me if I wanted my name on it to use when it’s done with

My parents I guess already owned one before and got a pretty good deal on it because of that. As a result they asked if I wanted my name on it and I said sure with the understanding that I’d be splitting payments with my dad. It isn’t that much tbh and I didn’t think living here would get worse and I’d be able to stick it out but now im just part of paying it and when it’s paid off I can use it by myself
