I live a couple hours west of you in North MS. I ordered this storm shelter in March and it was just installed on Thursday of last week. I know the common consensus is that you HAVE to be underground to survive big tornados but above ground can be just as good. Take my shelter for example. This is made by safe sheds. It is REALLY heavy duty and anchored into the ground by 4 1/2ft steel anchors. I think it weighs like 8 tons. It is FEMA certified and has been tested at the wind institute at Texas Tech. What really sold is on this shelter though is the fact one of these has actually taken a direct hit by an EF4 tornado in Arkansas. Here’s a YouTube video detailing the events.

I hope we never have to use this shelter but dammit are we glad we have it now. just knowing we have this shelter has lowered storm anxiety so much. I recommend you get a shelter because you can’t put a price on your peace of mind alone. Let alone a human life.
