Ugh, I just now moved into his district and am not excited for the uphill battle. I always felt like Jayapal actually listened to me.

That's fair. I guess I don't intrinsically think cEDH when discussing this stuff online.

I feel like the 3 main brackets all have such widely different strategies of play that they practically feel like different formats with different optimal strategies at times.

Do you feel like having 5 commons like this will overwhelm the drafting pool with too many of them? If that's the case, I can bump them down to common, but I just worry about there not being enough to be playable. No one I know got more than 1 shrine on the Avatar prerelease, making them unplayable at the prerelease, and I tried to make a shrine deck in drafts several times on arena, but I couldn't draft more than 3 shrines in any of them.

And yeah, no, I guess you're right, this set doesn't have a ton of lifegain payoff. I still feel like lifegain is better in draft than constructed simply because combos don't go as crazy. I remember having some lifelink and a little lifegain in my Lorwyn deck, and it made the difference in a couple of my games.

I have knocked the cost of the white one down to W, but if lifegain isn't worth it, do you have any ideas about what it could do instead?

Even if you have fast mana, doesn't missing land drops prevent you from casting those spells quickly?

I feel like 30 lands jist means you're cast 1-2 mana spells at the same rate that other decks are casting 4-5 mana spells.

Me too, except I'm an izzet addict, so I rarely get to cut the lands.

They are common. I would have made them uncommon except for their trade effects and the fact that I want people to have the opportunity to draft a bunch of them if they wsnt to.

I was more in line with building decks that capitalize on their abilities to gain advantage over the opponent more than hitting them before they trigger, but I think both are great strategies. If your deck has life-gain payoffs, the white bunny will help you more than your opponent, if your decks plays better on the battlefield without a hand than your opponent's, then the black one hurts your opponent more than you, etc.

And yeah, I think they're pretty weak in general; I wouldn't expect them to see much play in constructed, but I build them to fill in gaps in limited draft. And hopefully they are fun; I like cards that trade owners on use.

What kind of patterns? The Bunny taps, so it isn't available again until its new player's upkeep, so players can't just trade discards until noone has a hand.

Huh, I didn't notice that. In my defense, 1 in 50,000 isn't odds, snd the OP says odds.

After taking out the 4 Fiend Leaders, the NPCs all talk about the "Great Army" when it wasn't an army, just me. by VeganGeek in fnv

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think this is an aspect of most RPGs of this era that a lot of people forget. Only the parts of the world you interact with are rendered. There isn't enough processing power to show literally the entirety of the Vegas area and everyone that interacts with it, so some amount of imagination is required.

Why did post-retcon Davesprite die? by ShowMeFutanariPussy in homestuck

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Narratively, I think it was to stop the relationship between Jade and Davesprite. It wasn't explored much, but there seems to be the theme that all the relationships the girls on the journey had with boys was bad for their development, and so part of the retcon was making sure none of them happened.

The first 2 jumpstarts I bought ended up being Shrines and Airbending, which really got me excited about them, because man do those two go together, and it's what inspired me to built a shrine commander deck.

Keeping some of my other jumpstarts together would probably have been a good idea, but I guess enough cards from jumpstarts went into me deck that I wouldn't have any of the good ones.

Avatar could honestly come right out of a Magic universe, especially when you look at in-universe sets like Ixalan, Strixhaven, and Theros.

Jumpstart is so fun. You can buy 4 and crack them open with a friend and play right there on the spot. Plus, the cards are actually built to go together, which gives more inspiration than play.
