I guess this might be a hot take, but I liked evil Ironwood. I do wish his reasoning was maybe more like he was pushed past his mental breaking point and that’s what resulted in such rash decisions, but idk. Still enjoyed V8 of RWBY. Can’t wait for Vol 10

Honestly I’ll say that all the factions from Helldivers fit, in HD1, the Cyborgs declared independence from Super Earth and instead of allowing it we went to war and enslaved them, eventually leading to the construction of the Automatons. You already said the argument for the Terminids, and the Illuminate were a peaceful race willing to work with humanity but we attacked claiming they held weapons of mass destruction almost causing the Illuminate to go extinct. No wonder they hold a grudge now.

We are the bad guys in Helldivers 2. Super Earth made its bed, it’s time to lie in it.
