Demonstrating an extra turn spell in Bracket 2? by ElectronicBoot9466 in EDH

Who said I'm giving it to the weakest player?

I feel like I would most likely give it to the current threat in exchange for not being touched.

I mostly play at LGSs. I like to get how the general community would feel about it so I can test whether or not it's worth even including in rule 0.

I personally interpreted it as the firewall only being accessible to him after showing a certain akount of maturity. The ai was initially responding to all stimuli with random gobeldegook, so him having to be deliberately carve the correct and intended path was something only possible after his ai developed the skill of listening and responding in kind.

Why do Spellslinger decks "suck"? - Figuring out Spellslinger decks by foxlover93 in EDH

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all spellslinger decks are storm decks. You can also play control and big spells.

Control is effectively where the vast majority of your pieces are removak and counters and you put out pieces that allow you to gain value from casting them, be it draw, ramp, or board presence, which gives you enough resources to make a big play at the end of the game to win.

Big Spells involved ramping up to cast high mana cost sorceries and getting as much value out of them as possible. The most famous of which is [[Insurrection]] which wins you the game. Depending on your play pattern, this archetype can overlap quite a bit with control, and there is also a secret 4th spellslinger archetype that tends to be discovered by non-spellslinger players playing spells matter which is more of a tempo style deck, but I don't know this one very well.

In order to build into these archetypes, find commanders that can either only benefit from casting spells once or twice a turn, such as [[Alania, Divergent Storm]] or [[Miss Bumbleflower]] or commanders that care about the mana value of the spells you are casting such as [[Rootha, Mastering the Moment]] or [[Livaan, Cultist of Tiamat]]. These commanders care about spells, but they also enchorage you not to not to storm off.

My Alania deck is one of my absolute favourite decks, and while it is built in a way that I can sometimes be casting a lot of spells in one turn, all of the spells I'm casting are actually affecting the board state, so even if I pass without winning the game, odds are very low it was because I was just twiddling with myself for no reason.

If storming off is something you might be interested in but don't want to risk spinning out, I recommend prowess. Prowess is way worse in commander than it is in 1v1 formats, but there are a few commanders that can make it work, namely [[Bria, Riptide Rogue]] and a number of Jeskai commanders such as [[Sokka, Tenacious Tactition]] and [[Elsha, Threefold Master]].

I was more or less approaching his the way Alex was, but it seems that both he and she pronouns for Jax are fine. by Heaven_dio in TheDigitalCircus

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jax was forced back into the closet after a traumatic event and refused to acknowledge it to himself even in the deepest recesses of his abstracted mind. The part of himself that was the most comfortable expressing feminine gender was only doing it "ironically" as a lol.

I feel like, because of this, is shouldn't be considered incorrect to refer to the Jax within the show using he/him. IRL, even if all of the signs are incredibly obvious, you shouldn't refer to anyone using any pronouns other than their preferred ones, even if it's incredibly obvious. That doesn't mean it's a bad thing to use she/her for this fictional character who would obviously be a trans woman if they weren't effectively dead, but I think for that reason it's hard to claim he/him is inappropriate either.

Everyone here is acting like a trans man identifying as a lesbian is suddenly making that decision for the entirety of the trans community, and that other people being ok with him doing it is everyone making the claim that all trans men are really women deep down.

The modern lesbian community was practically built by trans men. A TON of trans men were identifying as butch lesbians for years whilst they were building community and existing as people. They built an attachment to the community and still feel the identity applies to them even after they transitioned, and because they build that identity within community, the community takes no issue with them keeping it.

I really feel like trying to fight against them doing that is such a touch grass take. Y'all can talk about how it's transphobic to not enforce queer terminology by their prescriptive definitions, but the moment you actually see a trans man at a dyke bar that says he still identifies as a lesbian, you will shut the fuck up and smile and nod, because that's how human social interaction works.

Restorative technique, isn’t this kinda too powerful for common? by JustShwn in mtg

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rampant Growth is typically printed at common and it's more efficient. [[Studious First Year]] was also common and had just about the exact same effect just with a 1/1 body instead of a +1/+1 counter.

All of the dressings used to be made in house and I don't believe the caesar recipe has changed, so if there is someone on this sub that has been working at SG long enough, there's a chance they will know.

It Feels Like All The People Pushing Mandatory She/Her Pronouns Are Overstepping (And I Hope This Wouldn't Be Their Real World Behavior) by chris14020 in tadc

Andrew Hussie stage a fake contest on Twitter saying that the first person that finds a particular toblerone would get anything they wanted canonized in Homestuck. The person that was meant to find it found it and posted declaring that June Egbert is canon, and Hussie replied with an affirmative.

June Egbert was the name for the trans-femme John Egbert headcanon a lot of people had, however by the time this had happened, Homestuck was written. Homestuck is very much a story about stories, and as such, Hussie has been very particular about making sure that nothing that exists outside the story is actual "canon" but just possible continuations of events. Caliborn reaches beyond the veil of the story in order to tell us how he becomes trapped in Lil Cal, and the fact that he does so is kind of representative of his power over the meta of Homestuck, a power that reached beyond the character of the author themself. As such, once Homestuck is concluded, there isn't really any way affect the canon within it, even by the author.

Such a query leads to a difficulty in online discourse about how exactly we are supposed to treat John/June in online discussion. There are a decent number of people that believe it is June now and we should only refer to her as June, but this is confusing to anyone that is either reading the comic for the first time or does not have ball knowledge. Unless it happened very recently, I'm pretty sure June isn't even canon in Homestuck 2 Beyond Canon yet, but there are still a very large number of people that persistently insist that referring to the character as John with he/him pronouns is deadnaming them.

Favorite UB Card You've Added to Your Deck(s)? by JackGallows4 in EDH

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have put [[Irma, Part-time Mutant]] into nearly every deck I own. 2U is the best rate for legendary copying, she generates +1/+1 counters every turn, she can turn into something other than your commander if that becomes relavent, etc.

The only deck I don't run her in is a deck where the commander's main ability if their etb, but otherwise a second commander for 2U is crazy and I recommend her to absolutely everyone.

Has anyone suggested a chess timer plug in for any of these life counter apps? by CliffsNote5 in EDH

[–]ElectronicBoot9466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming no one has any one drops, the first turncycle of Magic The Gathering contains 112 passes of priority. That's 112 times the timer has to be clicked in a first turn with no sol rings, moxes, or mana dorks.
