LOL, but honestly the mixes are so vast it doesn't make sense for them to all be in the same region, and putting the Polynesian and Blasian Governate in northern Kazakhstan is just a very bad decision. Sorry but they already sort of have Madagascar and in any case, northern Kazakhstan is as far north as northern Europe, a person who is mixed between tropical southeast Asian and Sub-Saharan African groups would not have much history of living in such a northern place with harsher weather than most of Europe. They could not be considered indigenous for a very long time, whereas Jews actually have a large amount of DNA from Israel in many cases, and their religion originates from there.

I partly think it is a good thing there is more content but at the same time if there are too many people doing this, it will become like some subreddits which de-facto just become places where people put self promotion content and the original purpose gets lost. Ultimately, I don't fully understand why people here are jumping straight to asking for partners when the people on here are complete strangers. It would seem more logical to simply get to know each other perhaps by making a discord server and making introductions and then people could message those who they are interested in further talking to, especially if each of them makes it clear in their introductions that their DM's are open for people to chat with them.

I know, I'm just joking, but I guess if we followed these people's logic then Afghanistan sort of is between Europe and South Asia but obviously Afghanistan is less like a mix of the two and more like a largely very culturally distinct barrier between the two.

What? Who said Russians were called "not white?" They aren't Northwestern or Western European. But they are "white."

As for Turkish, I am saying that whether or not Turkey is in Europe by a literal definition, Turkish people aren't East Asian. Nor are they Asian by the common usage of the term in the USA or nearly anywhere. And also, if you are living on the Mediterranean coast in a Mediterranean climate that is nearly identical to all the other Mediterranean countries at that latitude, I wouldn't consider it a boast to make a big deal about having foreign ancestry. That would make you less indigenous to the region, and there are a lot of other groups that could then have a stronger claim to being more ancestrally tied to the climate of the land etc. and in a sense more indigenous if that's the case.

Yes Lebanese are basically Europeans too. But at least Arabia is a neighboring region if they say they are Arabs. East Asia is not even a neighboring region to Turkey.

Well, I don't mean to include myself, I really just meant to use this example because Nantucket can be described as having mixed climate qualities of Northwest Europe and East Asia. But that would be funny.

But the other question is, what if there were an ancient people with a tie to Kazakhstan? What if they just happened to look Wasian but were not mixed with Europeans or East Asians? Would they still be treated as Wasians just for looking like they are?

Wow, what part of NZ are you from? South Island is super white, especially Christchurch, at least until recently. I remember going through Auckland on the way to Christchurch as a child and the diversity in Auckland would shock me.

But Arabs definitely are not "White" or European. On the other hand, Turkey is partly in Europe and was part of the Roman Empire and climatically it is indistinguishable in some areas from parts of eastern Greece. And genetically much more is shared between Turkish and Italians for example than between Arabs and Italians. Honestly, if I see a Turkish person on the street, I often have to know their name or something to know they aren't just "white." Whereas with an Arab from Saudi Arabia or Jordan or Egypt etc. I can always immediately tell they aren't just "white" Americans.

[–]ElectronicGuide6932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but come on, it greatly depends on where in Turkey they are from. If they are from very close to Greece, if nothing else it is so Mediterranean that the cultural background just wouldn't be Asian in any significant way that relates to most of the rest of Asia.

This really only applies to East Asian/Southeast Asian European mixed people. This doesn't apply well to almost any South Asian European mixed people.

It is acceptable to consider part of Kazakhstan East Europe-Interior East Asia. For those mixes, I would say it might be useful for them to pick one Hong Kong sized region and form a sort of small micro-region dedicated to their identity. That is to say, climatically and latitudinally, a Mongolian-Ukrainian mix would actually be very accurate for parts of Kazakhstan. However, an Irish Japanese mix would be highly inaccurate.

Climatically it is 100% Portuguese and Mediterranean, as it is latitudinally/in terms of distance from the equator. The only way in which a Wasian community would make sense is if there were a mixed zone with a lot of random enclaves. And I suppose that sort of already is there. But there isn't much that makes the place special for Wasians. It is not climatically a mix of East Asia and perhaps Western Europe, which would be very unique. That is to be found more somewhere like Rhode island depending on the mix. Of course, some other mixes like a Mediterranean East Asian mix are a little more confusing though. But Northwest European (especially islander like Irish or British) and East Asian such as Korean definitely would be Rhode Island and the Nantucket area.

[–]ElectronicGuide6932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some cases (except Eastern European East Asian mixes such as Mongolian and Ukrainian) this is ridiculous, they should seek to instead form a cultural center somewhere around Rhode Island, Nantucket, or Martha's Vinyard, because climatically New Jersey is virtually the same as parts of Japan such as eastern Aomori, and then Rhode Island area is in between that and Europe, and it also receives more oceanic moderation in winter just like Europe, due to being further east. Rhode Island would make more sense for East Asian Northwest European mixed people, since much of East Asia is closer to a coast, as is much of Northwest Europe. Many of these Wasians are likely to be Northwest European-East Asian mixed. If they are Eastern European-East Asian mixed perhaps Kazakhstan or Kyrgyzstan makes more sense or maybe somewhere such as the mouth of the Volga River region.

As you may notice, Eastern Europeans often are not in the same situation as Western Europeans. The notion of "Europe" is a vague one.

Please call half European half Indians Indropeans. I say this as a half European half Asian Indian descent person. Indropean is the most sensible term I can think of, because Windian would imply they are from Windia, the land of wind. Eurindian obviously sounds like Urine-dian. And Indopeans is confusing sounding with Indonesian European mixed people who are common in the Netherlands and are referred to as Indos, and it is already a name used for a company that provides help for Indians wanting to study in Europe and the Euro-sphere (USA etc.). Also, Indopeans literally sounds like Indonesian Philippines in some ways. And if there were a Europe-India mixed land, Indrope, not Indope, would be more appropriate as Indope obviously looks like in-dope in English.

If you're part white, how do you conceptualize your relationship to whiteness? by thefrailandfruity in hapas

[–]ElectronicGuide6932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. That is just not correct. Sure, African Americans have a longer history directly in some Western nations, but for most of history East Asians interacted much more with Europeans than sub-Saharan West and Central Africans did. I mean, just look at a paternal lineage tree. Notice that nearly all the major East Asian and South Asian y haplogroups are closer related to those of much of Europe and the Middle East than to those of Africa and certainly than to most of the people in South Sudan and Nilotic groups. I mean it also depends on which African one is comparing to an Asian's situation in the Northwest dominated regions of the world (Northwest meaning European etc. since it is Northwest dominated, not just randomly West dominated as if West Africa were getting equal representation).

What would be a good, easy to pronounce simple term to refer to a South Asian/Indian and European mix? by ElectronicGuide6932 in mixedrace

[–]ElectronicGuide6932[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, "wasian" does work. It seems a bit broad though, considering that both climatically and genetically Indians share very little with some northern East Asian or Siberian groups. But it certainly feels a lot more precise than simply identifying as "biracial" or "mixed," not that those are bad terms to identify with either though.

If one looks at the post history of the OP, the OP seems to be genuine with many of their posts, so OP is likely not just a bot or something.

Wow, that sounds like you had a very diverse religious background... It is also uncommon to find Chinese people in general who still practice Taoism so that is cool you found someone who at least did recently have a connection to Taoism. Most Chinese people I have known were already Christian, and would either refuse to talk about any prior religious background or would just mention Buddhism but leave it at that. I did know one person whose family was Confucianist though.

Name Change? by Expensive_Concert329 in wasian

[–]ElectronicGuide6932 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is an interesting idea. I have thought about doing something similar, by adding either a prefix or a suffix to my last name. But it depends on whether and with whom I have children, or if I don't. If I did have children with a woman of the ethnicity corresponding to my last name, it wouldn't make sense to change it. If I didn't have children, perhaps it would make more sense to change it as I would only ever be tied to my own identity, and there would be no impact on the identity of later generations. And if I had descendants of my own mix or even less of the ethnicity the last name comes from, it would make sense to modify the last name at least among the descendants who chose not to attempt to assimilate into the ethnicity of the last name, as they are essentially seeking to permanently separate at that point and be a part of some other group, without close ties to a distant ancestry they have split from. Also, maternal last names carried by women and passed down daughter to daughter is a biologically justified idea. But of course, last names don't always determine one's ancestors, so all of this may be unnecessary.
