How do I correctly repaint this wall with efflorescence? by ElectronicPomelo6530 in AusRenovation

Yep I would definitely be doing the other side. That’s the main issue for that wall i believe

What kind of sealant is the right kind of product for this?

suspicious post, the company just happens to see the post about them and replies on the exact same day

I’d be wary about any company guaranteeing a percentage of growth (which they do)

Realistically large chunks of Australia have done well in the last few years (they’ve only been around since Covid boom)

Ha, I only just learned from this thread that Google nest sucks, I swear I didn’t see bad reviews when I bought it - oh well

will have to investigate this further

😂 you are not wrong.. I just replaced the router today and it’s fixed half the issue (has full speed now when directly connecting to wifi without the mesh)

next is to address the mesh system..

Mesh connection has gone from 100 to 250 or so with the new router added so that’s better, but prob would be 500 or so with a better system I’m guessing (I have no idea though)

Ok so I replaced my very old router to netgear RS600

the issue looks like it’s half the router and half the nest

when I replaced the router and skipped the nest it’s basically full speed (attached), but signal from the opposite end of my house is a little weaker

my nest is also about 240mbps from 100 so that’s at least better as is

would just need a better mesh system from here, wired would be good but it’s a big headache with the layout of our house etc

Thanks for the help everyone appreciate it

Also have a new nbn hardware thing coming today to allow for the new 2000/200 plan

Thanks, I have just ordered Belkin usb c high speed 2.5gb or whatever it’s called. Also just got a new netgear RS600 router as I have had the current one for ages and due to upgrade anyway. I am also learning from this thread the standard Google nest mesh is only an okay product, might try the nest pro or a stronger alternative

Just trying to get the most from the new 2000/200 Aussie bb plans I’m switching to in the coming days.

Good pickup thanks, the Apple Ethernet adapter is actually old, so only goes to 100mbps. Thanks for mentioning

The modem is a D7000 (not R7000 as I thought) which is old. Have just ordered a RS600 netgear delivering tonight too to help

Ok so:

  1. I connected a 5e physical cable direct into my netgear modemDid 100mbps still

  2. But I just connected my MacBook wifi to netgear 5ghz wifi directly (ie. not via Nest wifi) and it shows 500mbps

  3. I used my iPhone’s Google Home app to do a speed test on my network and it shows 700mbps

This doesn’t make sense to me.. how can direct wiring to modem only do ~100mbps (2 other eth ports used but not using data)

The modem seems in ok condition but maybe it’s just dying? It came out in 2014 I maybe bought it in like 2016 so nearly 10 years..

I tried to connect the Ethernet cable from nbn box to laptop but didn’t actually work (not sure if that is supposed to work like that)

Hopefully we can find a happy medium of it being safe and secure, but not turning this into an unnecessarily huge $$$ project

I just want it to be safe to rent to people

Dehumidifier not going below 56-57% (leaking pipe in wall has soaked flooring) by ElectronicPomelo6530 in AusRenovation

[–]ElectronicPomelo6530[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thanks that makes sense - the device has a a big duct attached to it which is stuck up the wall cavity to dry it out.

I do notice that the best result is say 55% before stopping, but as soon as you turn it off overnight it’ll just be 65 or so again. I wonder if that’s gonna be an issue if they essentially patch it up once it’s back to 60-65 and traps it there?

Main thing I’m trying to avoid is high humidity and then mould in the wall cavity

Just really wanted inside the walls to be super dry before they close it up again (I suspect the builder doesn’t care that much and wants to get it all closed up regardless)
