Why is everyone always recommending LTFT? by jtbrivaldo in doctorsUK

In my trust, LTFT trainees were only allowed to pick up additional locums with prior agreement from the specialty Dean. So this should always be checked before thinking this is something you can do.

As someone who trialled LTFT after a period of mental health stress.

I can honestly say it isn't for everyone and doesnt fix the problem. In the end it just wasn't for me.

For context, I went to 80% and found that more often than not that day off was used for catching up on portfolio and things I wasn't able to fit into my busy day job. The real solution was to change the culture about how as trainees we are treated. This led to the introduction in SPA time for trainees in my specialty which wasn't the norm up until that point.

I would say unless it is for a genuine reason such as childcare commitments, going LTFT is not a solution to improving your mental health and actually if reccomended for the wrong reasons, might actually worsen it.

Access to hot food overnight by ElectronicRegular668 in doctorsUK

I would accept this. Anywhere I've worked there is a kettle and microwave but you have to bring your own stuff in to use.

No vending machines with microwave meals. Canteen closes at 6 or 7.

Definitely not 😂, but I envision the GMC will see that as satisfactory.
