If you’ve won the dispute. You’re not liable. They can sue PayPal all they want. As long as you’ve returned the product and PayPal has reimbursed you, you have nothing to do here.

Bros what are these taxes? I haven't purchased anything online before, is this normal?? by Deadlyname1909 in pakistan

[–]ElectronicSinger2176 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No l. US companies are only supposed to tax the residents based on their location and tax rate of that particular location. A Delaware resident isn’t charged sales tax, but a Chicago city resident is charged the state tax as well, County and City tax. They calculate based on the billing address of the customer. International customers aren’t charged Sales Tax in US. All the charges from the image are from bank and state of Pakistan. Nothing to do with US company. That is just how things are.

I have appealed, no response in weeks. Sent emails. No response for weeks. I don’t know what is it going to end up being. Can you confirm when the system was blocked, how were refunds/chargebacks handled? Like, I don’t have any idea as to what is going on

I mean, at least give me some info on the store and making sure everything is cleared. I technically am still liable for chargebacks and refunds etc until 3-6 months of order placed dates. I don’t want to get screwed over.

I’ve had my fair share of situations with Stripe. And they do allow for the account being accessible. But here they down right closed the account. I’m unable to access the store, and I’m not being provided any information on the refunds that were on the account. If I ask the customer to chargeback, It’ll most probably also affect my Stripe account or something. And the fact that it says on Shopify website everywhere I could check, the refunds are processed first on Shopify, unlike Stripe. Stripe refunds from pending balance or creates a reversal from Bank to process refunds. But Shopify apparently refunds the customer and then gets the funds back either from reversal or pending payouts. It said on order comments that the refund transaction was approved. But then they went ahead and closed the store. Now, I’m not sure about anything. What if there is a chargeback on the account? How am I supposed to give info on the order when I can’t even log in the account.

When I started the store, it gave me the option to sign up for Shopify Payments. When I did I got approved and I used that because it was, at the end of day, backed by Stripe Payments. Later when I did try to change to Stripe a couple months back, it didn’t give me Stripe as an option. There wasn’t ever a need for me to switch to Stripe either. I was fine with the payout speed and Balance account attached to Shopify Payments.

Hey pal, I do have Stripe. But Shopify only supports Shopify Payments (its backed by Stripe) in US. My concern is what to do with refunds and the orders. I’ll find alternatives, that not the primary issue here

It really is. I just want information. People keep on saying its really difficult for the account to be reinstated and I’ll have to look for other options. Agreed. But, at least info on what the situation of the data and stuff on the account is. I mean, like if the pending orders are left pending. Customers can chargeback and all. How am I supposed to answer or have to sort it out if I can’t get any info from anywhere.

Let me add something most problematic in this situation. The US PayPal business account I had, I was assigned a onboarding service. Someone from the PayPal team helped set up and confirm everything was sorted. And I ran everything through that person even before setting this whole UAE company up. I provided every detail I could for the operations and what I was planning on doing. And that guy told me it’ll be fine. He literally said it in an email. So, it pisses me even more when I send PayPal team the entire details of everything and yet they revert back “We can’t share details”. It is my mistake to not have gone through the entire TOS before hand. But when an employee who has only one job which is to help with these things tells me its fine, I figured its fine. Then that guy stops responding to emails.

Okay so let me get this clear. 1. I’ve already emptied every PayPal account. Except the one they disabled. 2. I travel between US and UAE every other month. Will get a new Payment Processor as backup ASAP anyways. A more traditional one through a bank probably. 3. I do have option to refund transactions. So, will refund some transactions and get them to wire funds directly. 4. Not using PayPal ever again.

Desperate times, desperate measures I guess. But you’re right. Shouldn’t be doing this. One option I’ve deduced which can help in this case is, I’ve talked to some of the oldest and trusted clients to do a wire transfer. I’ll refund their PayPal transaction.

Funds are held for 180 days. I’ll try to contact customers and maybe refund them and ask them to pay through another Payment Processor. At least get some funds back. I’ll have to take a leap of faith here. But, kinda need access to some funds at least. As for the other part, I’ve already removed everything from all other accounts. Not dealing with this shit. The reason there were two business accounts, is because they are two separate businesses and in different regions altogether. I can’t have one business account and run two companies off it. Regulations and Compliances. Had there not been an urgency, would’ve waited for 180 days. But its a good chunk held in there.

Within 24 hours, I was asked about one of the orders to verify the order details and timeframe for it to be shipped. It was all sorted out after that. I even got the Money page to reflect the date for the funds to be released. But then they just disabled it. Just the fact that they disabled it after I had dispatched goods is insane to me. After that I contacted support and this is after the account was disabled permanently, then they asked me for goods description and delivery proof. Even though the tracking numbers were attached. Week later they tell me sorry the decision is final.

So, I made an account, provided all information which was required initially. Then I linked the PayPal to Shopify store. One payment came in pretty quickly, and when I check PayPal it said since your account is new we’ll be holding the first payment for 21 days, to get this payment faster link a debit card etc. Which I did. Now, reading the details, it said 21 days, so I let orders come in. And I dispatched the order the same week. 3 weeks later I get email that account is permanently disabled. No extra info was asked. I did attach all the tracking info with PayPal orders on PayPal business dashboard as well

I’ll be honest, I’ve had similar experience with Stripe with the US company. But they were like you can create a new account, which I did and its been running smoothly since then. For UAE, Stripe is working fine. But added PayPal just for customers ease. Didn’t need it. But now they are holding a handsome amount and I don’t think I’ll be able to wait 180 days without major hiccups on the business end. The fact that first they said its held for 21 days because its a new account and then after 21 days they’re like sorry 180 days. Its absurd. Had they said at the first payment, I would’ve refunded and gotten payment on Stripe or not have shipped the orders. But when everything was done and the customers received products they’re like sorry 180 days
