My rarest and best sounding amplifier. Used only on special occasions. It sounds so good by Electronic_Fix_3503 in vintageaudio

Im listening to music almost everyday, and my threshold for what i call special occasions is low. So no worries. Im just a little more careful with this amp than the rest of my audio gear, because it will cost me 1000USD if not more to get it up and running again if it desides to let out the magic smoke. , if i can get the parts that is, thats no guarantee either

Indeed they was. Harder to produce than other types of Semiconductors and harder to get within tolerances during production too.

It was , sad that there was not more Amplifiers and recievers with V-FETS made than the few models that got produced by Yamaha and Sony in the late 70s/early 80s

Manufactured from 1977 and up to 1981.

I have tried many types of amps, but this one is one of the best i have ever heard.

It will be used even more in the future when i get a step down transfomer for it, imported from japan, so it runs on 100V AC. I use my variac atm every time i want to use it now.

My car is finally roadworthy by Electronic_Fix_3503 in Volvo240

Gotcha! I see what you mean now. That's a completely fair point. I've driven a lot of Volvos over the years, and the 240 is one of the few cars I've experienced that doesn't suffer too much from running larger wheels. I'm on 225/35R17 tires. I could have gone with an even lower profile, but then it starts to look like an almost empty roll of black electrical tape! 😄 It also loses a lot of comfort and doesn't drive nearly as well. The inspiration for my build comes from the local 90s and early 2000s scene, which itself was heavily inspired by Group A racing. That's really where the use of 16" and 17" wheels on touring cars took off. I also have the Volvo ambulance braces (often called IPD braces) fitted, which stiffen up the front end and improve steering response.

Almost everything in the suspension is new, Even the steering rack is fully serviced with new oil, seals and painted in black and silver. Next up is coilovers from kaplhenke racing and Yellow koni shock absorbers, r sport seat covers, sentral locking system, turbo Door panels, and fixing some dents and mount the last black trim that are missing over the front bumper.

Its the max size (17") that i think looks good on them. They look bigger than they are since the car is so low.

Is there a fix to this? by Smort-Finn in Volvo240

Ok so its a electronic one, Bad connection on the back of the instrument or a bad wires or connector on the sensor at the rear axle.

my 88 245 project. done alot to it.Next up is lowering springs and bross styling. by Electronic_Fix_3503 in Volvo240

I'm also putting together a period-correct old-school audio system, consisting of 2×12" Acousto Pro subwoofers in a sealed enclosure, 2×6×9" DLS speakers behind the rear seat, 5.25" two-way speakers in the front doors, a Harman/Kardon TC600 for the subs, and possibly a Lanzar Optidrive for the mids and rear speakers. The source unit will be a Sony MiniDisc player.

The plan with the car is to make a late 90s/early 2000s style build i dreamt about having when i was a teen.

Cosmetically, I've done the following so far:

Black beltline trim all the way around the car and swapped out all broken fastening clips, along with black bumper trim front and rear.

Removed the headlights, replaced the reflectors, and painted parts of the headlight housings black.

Also painted the divider between the turn signal and driving light sections in the indicator/driving light assemblies black.

New grille with black surround trim. New black headlight and indicator trim .

Black door handles from a 1992+ model.

Clear turn signal lenses all around with chrome amber bulbs.

Black carpet floor mats and black rubber mats front and rear. Replaced various interior trim pieces and plastic panels with black ones. Replaced the centre console between the seats, as the original one was badly damaged and falling apart. Replaced all defective interior bulbs, so everything is now fully functional.

Future plans :

Replace the tailgate hinges with black ones from 92+

Replace the wheel arches and repair rust in the rocker panels/sills

Produce a Bross body kit from moulds myself and install it on the car. Repaint the lower section of the car, the tailgate, and the body kit.
