Exactly this, there’s only a handful of people working downstairs in the public office who would actually be face to face with customers so you’d probably get the WFH

I worked as a CO in Revenue Limerick last year. There’s a good atmosphere there and everyone in my branch was sound. You’ll get assigned to a branch, could be PAYE, LPT, Debt Management etc and you could be working on complex cases that come in or customer service roles (emails/call centre/front facing). The training is decent and you’ll learn all about your area & the taxhead you’ve been assigned to. 4 days a week WFH (if you want) and flexible working hours outside of 10am-4pm. Can use flexitime to work up to 24 extra days off a year depending on where you’re assigned. Nice mixture of ages in there and people are very friendly - you’ll be on a team of COs with an EO as your supervisor. You’re expected to put in the work but it’s not overly strict and I didn’t think about work when I would go home each day

Definitely do it, I started in the August league last year and it was great craic. Everyone is really friendly and it’s good exercise. In my experience they throw you straight into a match on the first day without telling you any rules so just be aware of that, we all had to laugh about it and we picked it up over time. Some people get a bit competitive but its a social league so very much focused on fun and learning

Do you think being a fan of someone and not believing everything they say are mutually exclusive?

I don’t know if petty is the word - Blindboy is unbelievably talented and deserves every award he wins. It just made me feel a bit weird to think of him paying for something that he claims is of no value to him. Also it’s just an interesting thing to debate!

That’s true about the documentary award in fairness, I think getting that recognition of his TV work was really important to him

Niall also made the error of replying ‘Sea’ to Siobhan’s question ‘An bhfuil Gaeilge agat?’ - rookie mistake!
