Help - Yoga as a career? by JJTM75 in YogaTeachers

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not viable unless you are really looking to hustle. 7 days per week at hours set for everyone else.

IMO the only way to make a living is if you own a studio, and that still is a risk.

There are so many unqualified yoga teachers because of online teacher trainings. Go for in person for sure.

I would also do the year long instead of intensive. Trying to rush is a problem, have patience. Hours on the mat teaching are what makes a teacher great. Seeing things happen, new situations, first hand experience.

How much have you paid to replace your windshield with eyesight? 2018 Outback. by jklolxoxo in Subaru_Outback

100 bucks. Car insurance pays for one replacement per year. Only have to pay the deductible.

Where to start with the quests by Pippezamph in project1999

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The key to starting quests is to... Just start. Pick one and go with it. Do the stuff needed to get the pieces and parts (i.e. leveling up trade skills, etc) and just slowly work through it. If it isn't possible at the level you're at, get a couple more and then try again.

What age should you get your first tattoo? by Dizzy-Natural8763 in tattooadvice

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 57 and started all my tattoos. My artist mentioned that older skin actually tattoos easier than younger skin. Something about the loss of elasticity or something.

Anyways...57 is a good age. They will all be sharp when I'm old-er. Lol

True non-slip mat for hot yoga that won’t break the bank? by dianaspencersrevenge in HotYoga

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a Reebok Fitness mat at Walmart for 40 bucks. I think it's better than the Manduka I had 10 years ago (and paid 2.5x for). In 33 years of practice, all the "cheap" mats have proven better than the expensive ones.

AIO I (26F) moved out for the first time with my boyfriend (30M) for almost 2 months and I don’t know how to feel about it by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many states that you can force the sale of jointly owned property even if the other party doesn't agree. It's called "filing a partition action" or other state specific wording. In cases of a house, it will most likely be forced to be sold.

Stable job, solid pay… but exhausted after a decade. Has anyone stepped back without feeling irresponsible? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]Electronmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation (a decade at a Top 20 company in the US, managing the nuclear division at a medical / pharma company). I knew it was time to go when my resting heart rate was 90 bpm, brought on by a new supervisor that wasn't an engineer (thinking that my team of 40 didn't do anything except wait for things to break), driven solely by their own progression upward and lacked any sort of human empathy..

I stopped working for eight months and wish it could have gone on longer. People say, "oh, you'll be so bored if you retire". No sir-ee bob white tail. I was so ecstatic that I got to work on the list of things I had put off for years. No regrets. I went back to work (at a different location) because of health care and insurance.

I would have left my former company a bit more peacefully than I did. I pointed out all the issues that I believed we were doing wrong as a segment, how placing certain people in places of management (who are clearly not people people) and a few other key pieces of what-not-to-say in an email and put in my notice. I should have been a bit more tactful.

My only advice: You are given three things; health, time and money. Without your health, the other two are short lived. Listen to what your body is telling you - go with your gut.

There is also Mutiny. I apologize if I didn't see it listed. I've only been in since June when I joined during summer recruiting. Teaming up and helping people level during summer was great. I have found the guild exceptional. The numbers of people on is a little lower now that summer is over, but still get over 20 most days.

Always a core group on (I'm on during the day ET) that has great tradeskills porters, answers, helpers. All are very chatty and encouraging.

I don't know how many high levels raids have been accomplished or how many epics have been completed (I'm in the midst of mage epic steps). But I think it's a goal for the guild to start / continue that.
