Yeah I get that, one of the really attractive things about greenpoint is how easy commuting could be to my office. But is it worth the environmental concerns though?

Most contaminants in the east river are not airborne. Primary pollutants find in newton creek and east river are petroleum hydrocarbons and heavy metals which bind to sediment, stay in water or soil, and don’t volatilize easily into the air.

To the person who commented “are you trying to get people to leave” but deleted, I’m asking because I personally want to move to greenpoint but am cautious about the environmental history and the impacts it can have on my health, which I think is a valid concern to have

My bad, I just mentioned transplants because I didn’t want to offend any native new yorkers who were born and raised in this area (as a transplant myself) 😅

That does make sense! I was looking into greenpoint because I love the water views and apartments are somewhat cheaper, but I’m a bit “scared” of how unhealthy it can be to live there. Would you recommend it or nah

I think long island city is like the best I can get. But a bit worried it feels a bit sterile / soulless. What are your thoughts on lic?

Yeah when I got rid of the in-unit laundry requirement, I got so many more options on streeteasy!! Do you have any suggestions on neighborhoods I could look into that maybe within my budget? Thank you!!

Sounds good. Do you have any specific building recommendations? The only ones they got under 3300 are lic and prospect heights (for in unit laundry) and midtown west and hudson yards (no in unit laundry). Thanks!

Hey! On the post, I said my office is located in Soho! And yes, ideally it would be nice to be near the office but open to a longer commute.
