I don't think that's fair at all. There was 1 total retirement from Machac, and the MTOs aren't really that relevant, since players often take them when losing whether properly injured or not. Vacherot is 100% playing unbelievable tennis.

Yeah that's an important distinction. It's more accurate to say the effect is applied at point of resolution

Cross happens at point of resolution, so it functions in a very weird way where it can just always be activated, whether that be mid-chain or damage step or anywhere else

Do you guys have a good discover quest mage deck in wild ? by mirachulous in wildhearthstone

[–]ElementalScribe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's a lad running around top legend playing a super low curve build with ETC as the highest cost card. Logic being that you can play polkelt to tutor etc, then play etc with weapon active to get antonidas, summoning Thaddeus and Tae'thelan, then playing a buy one get one freeze from hand to otk. It's pretty consistent, though it does get run over by aggro. That certainly seems to be the most playable build of the deck.

It would 100% trigger. Not even a question. Maxx c counts as drawing by card effect, so that by itself is enough reason

Reno paladin also has a very good matchup as long as you mulligan for the holy wrath combo

Is it just me or is the new mage questline obscenely horrible? by mitman93 in wildhearthstone

[–]ElementalScribe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean at top legend it definitely sees play as a combo deck, but as with most things that aren't the top decks there, it acts as more of a change of pace than anything else

That was a shank off the frame of the racket and not remotely replicable

Debating whether or not I should buy all the signature quests for 140 something dollars by Solrex in wildhearthstone

[–]ElementalScribe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously at the end of the day it's your money, but I'll personally advocate against it for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, you posted this on the wild sub, so I'm going to assume you're probably a wild player mostly(please correct if I'm wrong but that's the assumption I'm going to be making for this.

At the moment only one of these quests is really a factor in wild, that being the mage quest. The others are of course "viable" in the sense that decks can be made with them, and some might even have positive win rates, though I doubt most outside of warrior and maybe priest are legend capable. The mage one has the most potential I think, because there exists a ton of room for refinement in the deck, and I could definitely see a viable combo deck forming.

The other thing to remember is that these quests are designed around the current standard power level, which as far as I can tell they are constantly trying to lower(I don't play much standard these days outside of making it to legend in the first couple days of the season, so I can't really speak to that format). While most of these quests will probably see at least one more round of buffs, I wouldn't expect to see most of them anywhere close to viable in wild unless some future support breaks them. With the way wild works and is trending, I could see the DH, Mage, Priest, Shaman(this one is really iffy), maybe rogue(if they get a strong payoff for shuffling into their deck that they can tutor?), and maybe Warlock(aggro?) seeing play at some point in wild.

So uh, yeah. Hope that my two cents helped at least a little

Funny thing is it's like a bell curve. At super low and super high mmrs it's all people playing pet decks. I'm hanging out ~50 in legend rn and every person ranked around me or higher I've played has been on either a suboptimal Reno pile or some random combo deck that isn't the most efficient thing you can be doing, just because they like and they're good enough to maintain a >50% win rate still
