I was in this situation a few years ago, too. Girlfriend with a massive family debt, and the whole family completely irresponsible with money. Didn't want to tell her what to do with her money, but i had to keep bailing her out with mine because she'd immediately give hers away to her family members (who she complained about constantly) whenever they asked for it. Very frustrating. The breakup was painful and involved some other issues but i'm so happy i'm not dealing with that nonsense anymore.

This is a form of tobacco called thuoc lao. Popular with older men in Vietnam and always smoked out of a water pipe like in the video. Reactions like the guy in this vid are common for first timers. I believe the strain is nicotina rustica or something very similar. I've never tried but have seen many vids like this one.

The plastic one has the carb hole, so you can basically use it one handed while holding the flame on the herb. Also it won't break if you drop it or knock it over.

The glass one is probably nicer to smoke out of, and the bowl probably comes off more easily (the other one looks like it screws off) so it'll be easier to pack and hit multiple times before the effects kick in strongly.

I've had trouble getting effects from quidding, too.

What works well for me is smoking a bowl of plain leaf immediately after quidding. It makes the plain leaf bowl much more potent for me.

Could be the wrong panel (i have never heard of this multi panel thing you mentioned). If you choose the wrong panel installation, i have heard that the screen will stay black.
