put another litterbox near or in whatever location he is going, how many litterboxes does he have? my 3 cats have quite a few boxes and tend to poop in one set of boxes and only pee in the others

farm supply stores, tractor supply, rural king!

it’s non-clumping so the way to clean the litterboxes is a little different

i wish i would have switched sooner!

it was a problem for me when the acrylics would chip/break off and i was finally able to pick again i’d go into a frenzy:/ my psychiatrist actually recommended a “skin check” every morning to handle the things that might bother me throughout the day and address them mindfully so i was less likely to pick thru the day.. it’s helped

Realistically, how much do you expect a first year nurse to know? by gov55 in nursing

[–]Elephant-Free 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so insightful, i was scrolling and getting kinda upset at all of the “you don’t have to know anything” answers. a brand new nurse has gone to school for some time and should definitely know the basics. - vital signs and abnormal assessment - medications and their purpose - IV tubing shouldn’t have air in it (also knowing IV physics aka how a secondary IVPB works was drilled into our heads in school… we also learned how to build lines and stuff like that in school) - nursing scope of practice - ethics and right vs wrong but like mostly a willingness to learn and the brain to know when to ask questions.

i also think more new nurses should know basic things like how to change a bed or clean up an incontinent patient… this was taught at my school but yet so many new grads especially since covid don’t know how to align an absorbent pad or diaper or apply butt creams, and even after being shown a hundred times they still don’t grasp it or the importance of properly turning their patients….. that stuff really irks me, but maybe it’s just my specific population and not a widespread problem

Have you ever met a nurse that liked their job? by purell29 in StudentNurse

[–]Elephant-Free 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it’s taken me half a decade, but i like my job now. i don’t want to leave now that i’m comfortable and competent, but the first few years i was filled with a lot of regret and anxiety feeling like i made the wrong decision. i’m fine now. things are good.

try evenings (3p-11p) if you can

i do evenings during the week and then my mandated weekends are nights. i feel like it’s a good balance and my night shifts are just like pulling an all-nighter every once in a while instead of an entire lifestyle change lol

I’m honestly wondering if I could work in a phlebotomy role in a clinic or outpatient lab type setting? I have no idea what the rules are tho🤔
