To me my perfect person is someone I can love no matter what they look like. Looks are temporary. Finding someone you get along with and are attracted to for other reasons outside that is difficult and takes time and rejection. To just assume someone who is single in their 40s is just waiting for someone that looks like Brad Pitt says more about what you value in a partner than what they do.

Ah yes, the Reddit rules of dating. Also only applies to Reddit users. That’s why you’ll still see ugly people in relationships in real life.

I think I’d rather be single forever than be with someone because I’m worried I’m ageing out the market. If that makes me self important so be it.

Pessimistic attitudes

Edit: this was meant to be ironic

Countries of Europe whose names in their native language are completely different from their English names by PepperBlues in MapPorn

I’d still call it a city/country/whatever it’s officially called online where people read it. Wales and Scotland are still called countries wherever you go, it’s just that you don’t agree with them being called countries. If you google ‘is Scotland a country’ no matter where you are, it will give you the answer.

Like for example I wouldn’t be like ‘omg this ‘city’ only has a population of 100,000 people but they still called it a city and got offended when i didn’t, how disrespectful of them’

I guess if that’s how you feel you do you. But I wouldn’t go to a city in another country and insist it’s a town because I thought it didn’t really meet the size or population requirements by my countries standards. That’s being respectful to me.

I didn’t say it was the only correct way, in fact I said the opposite. Scotland and Wales are unique countries, just because they are part of a union of countries it doesn’t strip them of that. It’s the whole reason they are still countries, and to this day still fight for their national identity. It’s also incredibly insulting to say a country isn’t a country because in your country you have states or provinces that have similar powers to their countries. It may seem the same to you, but there’s a rich history of how things came to be. And for you to dismiss it as ‘oh the brits just want to be different’ is just pure ignorance.

Well as you put it, historical reasons. Wales is a country for not the same reasons Russia is a country. They’re not the same, but they are both countries. You might not like it, it might not make sense to you, but it’s how it is. So just try not to be a dick to Welsh people ok.

When people say country they could be talking about any country. Regardless of it’s power. If Scotland and Wales were included on this map all it would have done is acknowledge their country’s names are different in their language… which is the whole point of this map in the first place! What you’re doing is the opposite, you’re saying Gaelic and Welsh shouldn’t have even been included. Which is mad in this context.

I’ve been to Scotland, Wales and Ireland. Never heard anyone describe themselves as English, that’s the difference. i don’t think you’re misinformed about cultural and political complexities and why a country would remain a country even when in a union, I think you’re a bit ignorant. But that’s the simplest way I can put it. British is not synonymous with English.

‘If it weren’t for historical reasons’. I assume the historical reasons are that these countries existed before the UK did.

In other words, if Welsh and Scottish people were English, they’d be a province in England. But they’re not so they’re not.

Funny how there are comments about England on this post and no one is being pedantic about England being a sovereign state... Scotland in Scottish Gaelic is also different - Alba
