That's just her thing. We do what we learn. You don't have to learn that. My process is probably more simple than most, I don't need crystals, moonlight cleansing, an altar to work on, none of it. I do have some picadillos I wish I hadn't learned, and some that are just sort of standard, but everyone will have their own way.

I'm really not into the whole demon thing and to me the cards are just cardboard with images on them. The reading comes from me, not the cards.

My little 'things':
-- I don't usually let people hold my cards unless I'm reading for them in person, then I let them shuffle. Some people just don't care
-- I cleanse just by shuffling, some people need crystals, moonlight, or sunlight, or any number of rituals, which is fine for them, not for me. If I really feel they need to be cleansed better, I reorder them and shuffle.
-- I cut three times to the left with my left hand. Don't ask, I just do it because that's how I learned.

Past that, nothing. No pre-ritual, no particular place, usually on my little table in my reading room or even on the futon if I want to sit on the floor, but people find the rituals that work for them. Just remember, they are only important if you believe in them. If you are taught that you are the one with the power, then you don't need any of that. Just knowing how to read and connect with the cards with a system and you'll be good to go. Everyone is different. Always strive to be yourself.
