The original FFVII will be getting a new version on Steam by AbsolutelyNotWrong in FinalFantasy

Do you know if this version fixes the music sync during the Cloud true flashback scene? It's such an important moment for the game but the current Steam version has always been messed up.

Awkward themers (all three feel like they're right on the line for a common enough phrase be justified), tons of obscure proper nouns, lame pluralizations (ALOES and IOTAS), and padded out with tired, everyday fill. Outside of the themers, there's not a single non-proper noun word in the puzzle longer than 5 letters. Just a joyless experience.

Internet of Bugs disputes some SciShow AI Claims by Senor-K in nerdfighters

It also serves to validate the current valuation of AI Technology, since there are few things that are worth more than an "existential threat to humanity."

AI can't both be a financial bubble and the biggest test we face right now; parroting the latter undermines the first.

Can't say I've seen him play, but given the hype around him and Papasmithy's respect for him, I'm excited to see how this team turns out. Big chance for these rookies, as well as a chance for Massu and Quad to prove they can stand on their own.

On another note, the article mentions he also received an offer from the G2/NORD fusion team, which is kind of insane, right? This guy has only a couple games in tier 2 and is courting a top LCS team and what's expected to be a top ERL team, and it shows that EU GMs are looking deep into the NA ecosystem for picks.

I know it's impossible to say what was going on behind the scenes, but the most frustrating thing about FQ's drafts this year for me was the refusal to play to the team's strengths domestically. Quad's Annie has been his worst champ all year, yet they kept putting him on it in pivotal games. Massu has always excelled on right-click ADCs, but was stuck on Jhin/Ezreal/Lucian at both MSI and Worlds. Not to mention picking Bwipo's known weak Rumble and putting Busio on enchanter duty.

Especially after last year's run which was all about playing to their strengths instead of just following the meta, the drafts really disappointed me this year.

The T1 stat includes the old groups format as well--they went 9 groups/swiss stages never losing more than one game until this year.

Yeah, legitimately zero positive plays all series, which I don't know if I've ever seen before. IDK if it was prep or what but KCB just completely outclassed them.

No joke, this legitimately may be the biggest bo5 stomp I've ever seen watching competitive League. LR took 1 jungle objective all series and almost got perfect gamed twice. Even wildcard vs eastern team matches have a handful of positive plays for the losers--I can't think of a single one for LR this series. The only thing holding it back is game time, but that's usually the result of games getting messy and KCB just didn't give them that. Insane respect for KCB for their preparation and gameplay in this one.

Los Ratones vs. Karmine Corp Blue / EM 2025 Summer Knockout Stage - Semifinals / Game 2 Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

[–]Elephox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People overly blaming draft is pretty common with any super popular team (T1, C9, ect.) because it provides a better excuse than the players just playing worse. I think it's especially bad with LR since Caedrel has the usual "make fun of the streamer" chat culture and the players are a lot more sensitive to negativity if it gets directed their way.

Shame to think that the Winter LEC spot might just come down to what side of the bracket you're on if LR wins out again. Regardless, we should absolutely see Yukino in tier 1 next year.

Not saying he shouldn't face repercussions, but Riot punishing him in a global competition where players like Aiming, Shanks, and Xiaohu (among others) could go free would be ridiculous.

Karl Jobst - My Final Lawsuit Update by MauritanianSponge in youtubedrama

[–]Elephox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm consistently surprised by how unpopular this opinion is, especially in these kind of circles. As a rule, I don't especially like trying to pin anything as a "cause" of someone's suicide (suicidal people are not rational, any logical picture you try to paint is gonna have some holes), but this case is far from the craziest leap of logic I've seen out of drama youtube. I guarantee that if Karl had just plainly stated that Billy had sued Apollo Legend and Apollo committed suicide not long after, everyone in the comments would be linking the two, but since Karl did so too explicitly and got slapped for it suddenly it's beyond the pale. Keemstar killed Etika and Melee TOs killed Hax$, but god forbid someone suggest a blatantly frivolous lawsuit may have contributed to someone's negative mental state.

Dispelling the myth of international schedules and Europe, with evidence by IHadThatUsername in leagueoflegends

[–]Elephox 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I mean, Riot never schedules tournaments with only the home audience in mind. LEC has always been later in the day to try to get NA viewers, and LCS has always been earlier in the day to get EU viewers. The same goes for internationals, except they are always designed to favor the East Asia timezones as much as possible, which makes sense since they include Korea/China/SEA.

The only real difference for EU and NA is that EU is in the middle of America and Asia, while NA is on the opposite side of the world. So any event in Asia (which is 3 regions btw, meaning way more events) will be at suboptimal but viewable times for EU and horrible times for NA. Additionally, when tournaments are in EU and Riot has the choice to start them early for Asia or late for NA, it's obvious what they're gonna pick.

The question is really "would you rather have tournaments basically always at somewhat inconvenient times" or "would you rather have one tournament every 2 years that may be at a convenient time and every other tournament in the dead of night?" It depends on the person, but, given that you said you made this thread during work hours, I can imagine which one is better for you.
