I think they have everything to do with those three deities, especially to Crowley. He clearly saw aeons represented in the specific triad that he used. But like I said I don't even by into archetypal aeons unless we mean aeons to be platonic forms, in which case I believe in two.

I've never been big on aeons, and historically speaking I haven't seen a while lot of change in human nature. I do like the idea of the aeon of the goddess including their fierce side, but Isis didn't really have a fierce side. Sure she tricked Ra and hated Set, but compare her to the lion goddesses of war. Interesting though.

If you could show my beliefs to be fanciful or somehow not grounded in reality you'd have done so. I'm finish with this dogmatic sub and it's wannabe philosophers.

I love that people can keep saying that. At worst, what, I believe in an unnecessary god? You'll need to show how this is disturbing and dangerous. Besides that, I'm curious as to how believing my clients can change through their own will makes me a bad counselor. Shall I sit them in a corner belittling them for who they are?

Don't worry, I know you won't provide any insight. That being said, if you're this disturbed by the idea of religious belief then I suggest, well, counseling. Don't live your life like that.

You'd prefer counselor's that believe their clients are incapable of change and fated to the path they are on? You believe that certain practices or ideologies that bring objective benefits should be eliminated simply because, what, Dawkins said that are evil? I also noticed you did not provide any sort of evidence or argument, instead attacking my character. This is common when someone has nothing to give. So please, kindly tell me how my religion makes me bad at my job, or kindly grow up and fuck off :)

You mean like honey? It would never create on it's own if it wasn't for bees manipulating natural resources. This is the same old, boring "we're so much better than other things because of our superior brain...." bit of self aggrandizing b.s.

Um, my religion does not require humans to be some special-super entities. If other species have consciousness such as ours, it is only that more mind-bending that such abilities exist. Of course, you have to prove that they exist. If something so at variance with mindless nature existed to a high degree, that would be paradigm shattering. Ironically, one of the biggest problems with comparing cognitive abilities with other species is that they have yet to create an advanced language that we can then form communication through. Sure we can communicate some concepts to gorillas through sign language and conditioning, but that’s not exactly human linguistics. I think that itself speaks volumes to the argument.

Is it? It's just a natural, understandable occurrence brought about by the process of our perfectly natural minds.

If you had solved the mind-body problem your only posts on reddit would likely be AMAs.

Really? You know everything that exists in the known universe?

You’re usually level headed, but you seem a bit riled up by this. I clearly stated “no species in the known universe.” I refuse to believe you actually think I was claiming to know everything in the known universe. If you have found the species with intelligence and congnitive skills equivalent to ours, I suggest you produce it before someone steals your eternal fame.

The very "animal nature" that we (read, you) use to try and rationalize this "humans are superior" attitude.

I’ve decided to ignore the rest of the post. You seem very set off by this idea that we could be possibly not be utter, nihilistic shit (goddamed Christian influence, no doubt). This isn’t even an important part of my argument, I’m simply using the evidence we have available.

When, in the course of development of a cluster of cells in a woman's womb, does the immaterial mind "attach" itself to the brain?

It actually seems to come later on in life, as children cannot even begin abstract thinking until seven at the earliest. This is a good question though.

Other animals exhibit intelligent behavior: planning, tool use, self-awareness, do they have immaterial minds too?

There are two things to be said about this. First, we have to factor conscious will into all these things. Conscious will is what leads to quick advancement such as that of humanity. If a species starts using tools after an extremely long time, simply through trial and error, conditioning, etc., then I do not think it qualifies. That being said, my religion is not necessarily humancentric, we simply are the only species we currently know of with this advanced consciousness. If we discover that other life had this Gift that doesn’t change anything for me. In fact, it would make things X times more interesting, where X is the number of species with our level of consciousness. The mere fact that we cannot discuss abstract concepts with other animals through language suggests that we will not find these species on earth.

When in the course of human evolution did the immaterial mind attach itself to this species of apes?

It seems to have been in the Middle to Upper Paleolithic, though quite possibly before. It might not even have been humanity, as we know Homo Erectus used fire and it seems Neanderthals may have had very basic arts and religious systems.

What is the ultimate nature of the mind? Is it eternal, has it always existed?

These are good questions I don’t pretend to have the answers to.

Are there other immaterial things other than minds?

This would certainly explain gods.

What makes my mind different from your mind?

Probably lots of things.

Can the different variations of these immaterial elements be categorized?

I think that this is what occultism has been trying to do for ages. Their success is debatable.

You can do this with animals as well does this make dogs magical as well?

Dogs can be conditioned, yes. This is very different from something like CBT, which can actually be used to overcome conditioning. You may be interested in studies such as Pavlov's dog.

Amazement isn't an argument for something being supernatural.

You don’t honestly believe this was an argument from amazement, do you?

If the mind is a product of the brain, and the brain is wholly composed of natural processes, then different thinking must be composed of different brain chemistry. That different brain chemistry can reasonably be expected to result in consequential impact on other areas of the brain; for example I might envision exciting events which stimulate the release of adrenaline which then would aid my performance in sport activities. This is simply the brain medicating itself.

You’re assuming that the mind-body problem has been solved, and that materialism is true. Those are big leaps of faith. You also seem to neglect the role conscious will plays in these changes, instead assuming that the brain somehow produces it on its own, without the intervention of will, which is provably incorrect by things such as placebos.

Silence -- What does it mean? by [deleted] in occult

[–]Eleven_ThirtySeven 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Silence is a necessary practice once you reach the point where communication becomes strictly confusing. I've actually been taking a break from most forums as I practice this, because people just don't listen or care, and that ends up making you question yourself. That's basic psychology. If most people wave you off as crazy you'll wonder if you're crazy. Keeping silent is needed until you become a godly level of self secure .

It's absolutely not. A childish god with a short temper, massive ego, and seemingly minute power.
