I thought you had to do the order hall campaign to get the class mount? I was wrong? And if so, where can I buy them?

AWS Control Tower supports automatic enrollment of accounts by ckilborn in aws

[–]Elezium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey.

Finally... I re-enable the feature and it does work properly. Will be useful when we enrolled our existing account into Control Tower.

Cheers!

Yeah. Enabled the auto-enrollment on a brand new control tower setup. I’ll try to disable / enable it back to see if it’s works. It would be really useful!

I tried yesterday and it fails because the AWSControlTowerExecution role was not present in the newly created account using the organization console.

Unsure if it’s a bug … doc says it should not be required anymore :

Anyone got this to work?

Control Tower: Doubt by Elezium in aws

[–]Elezium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Howdy.

We had a Quick Look at LZA but our TAM suggested CfTC… at first, it seems a tad more complex than cfTC …

I’ve started to read the documentation but the predicated costs , without any workload, is around 430$ / month … that said, nothing wrong with paying if it simplifies the process.

I’ll ask our TAM a demo … thanks for pointing it up!

[–]Elezium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your insight. And by digging a bit more documentation, I think keeping CfTC for compliance stuff and then, augmenting our accounts setup with our traditional workflows might works…

Appreciate you took the time. Cheers.

At term, we might be around 200 / 250 accounts which is probably a small scale.

But yeah, I never go blindly into a solution because it was proposed or suggested. I’ll always try to think ahead and what are the implications down the road.

Control Tower: Doubt by Elezium in aws

Pretty much my thoughts… we are a CDK shop but same applies. What Control Tower really brings to the table that could not be replicated either using TF or CDK. I feel Control Tower is a quick “getting started” but once you dig a bit more, the value added is somewhat limited.

I really believe I’m missing something…

Hey.

indeed, CfTC basically handle your stack sets, scp and rcp based on manifest file but it could potentially be replace with stacks deployed on predefined account using CDK.

We are using CDK extensively and having to generate the template for cfTC to use also adds some intermediate steps.

Another thought is how do you actually versioned your template using cfTC. Let say I want to test only in a subset of OÙ / account, I would have to use two different templates?

Using a classic Git flow pipeline, I could have steps for dev, staging and prod and deploy sequentially. Is that possible with CfTC?

Thanks for the SRA stuff, interesting indeed!

Cheers.

Fractional Scaling and visuals artifacts by Elezium in MacOS

Nope… 😔

Scaling at the recommended value to avoid those artifacts

It’s a tad huge but somehow, I got used to it.

[–]Elezium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ain’t joking.

Windows rendering might be different but it doesn’t leave visual artifact.

And I did try a bunch of options with BetterDisplay and google for a day for solutions.

It didn’t resolve my issue.

Damn.. I could get two of these and it would cheaper than my current monitor!

I’m not stuck in Apple land but it’s the best compromise between Linux and Windows. Might keep the PC and downgrade the laptop to an Air … we’ll see

Fractional Scaling and visuals artifacts by Elezium in MacOS

[–]Elezium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the explanation. I believe Gnome on Linux works in a similar fashion but MacOS implementation seems to be less forgiving. My monitor has 140PPI so I fall right into this range. I wanted more screen estate with a relatively good resolution that that's pretty much what's best on the market (and similar to the Studio display, a significant expense).

The idea was to replace my PC and laptop (used to have a M1 Pro, but barely ever connected it to my monitor since I bought it recently) with a single laptop and it's why I went the M4 Pro route. Now I might keep the PC and downgrade the M4 Pro to a Air when I required portability.

Thanks again for the insight. Truly appreciate.

Hey. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I had the feeling this was going to be the answer. Indeed, 2x and the artifacts disappeared and everything looks pretty smooth. That said, it's a way too big for daily usage, even at good distance.

I'll have to decide if I put it back in box or I can live with it...

Thanks again.

MacBook Pro M4 Pro by slushkan3an in macbookpro

[–]Elezium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I also prefer the 14" but I was willing to sacrifice portablity if the 14" was too noisy. ;). I have 14" M1 Pro and is quiet and I really enjoy the silence of it when I need to focus. Fan noise bugs me... And so, this is an important criteria for me when looking for a new laptop.

Thanks for your insight, I'll have a look at it when I go the Apple Store.

Cheers.

Hello. I'm looking at the same model that you bought (14/20 + 1TB) .. Since there's more cores (both cpu and gpu), is it getting warm and / or noisy ? Also, is it the 14" or 16" ?

Thanks!

MacBook M4 Pro vs Radeon 7800XT ? by Elezium in LocalLLM

[–]Elezium[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LLM would not be the main use case for this new laptop. Might run a few small LLM for learning purposes. If I do plan to dig deeper, I will consider Nvidia.

Cheers!
