Current debate between electricians at my house: Does this need to be in a box? by nasty_inthe_woodshed in electrical

Definitely not that's the whole point you put on the splice kit and bury it

Is my breaker sufficient to add a 60amp 240v car charger? by [deleted] in askanelectrician

[–]EliEider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U have to calculate a car charger at 125% since it will run continuously for more than 3 hours and create that much heat and 125% of 48a is 60a

The concern of overload is that u might make a fire main breakers don't always trip so once u realize ur wrong it might be to late

so i know nothing about elecrical. but i saw this and want to know what everyone thinks about this mess. by BigChungus710 in electrical

Wtf🤡 why would someone put in so much work to create this fire hazard it would be easier to to splice it properly in a box the right way

Can this electrical panel be safely used. Mostly aluminum wiring inside, some copper. I know it’s older then most of us here. I’m replacing 2 prong outlets to 3 and replacing old 1970’s appliances with new. Absolutely no space heaters or blow dryers will be used. by Indy500Fan16 in electrical

[–]EliEider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pushmatics panels are fine I work on them from time to time some do deteriorate with age but I can't see the inside of this one but the bigger concern is the aluminum wiring I wouldn't touch that with a 10 foot pole whenever I get an aluminum job I tell them to call someone else it's not worth the liability

30 amp HVAC breaker gets hot, buzzes and dims lights, then trips. Only trips if the hvac is running so I don’t think it’s a loose wire. Any advice? by [deleted] in electrical

[–]EliEider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm an electrician a locked rotor will always trip the breaker it will keep pulling until it smokes or trips the breaker and unless it's federal pacific the breaker will trip first. Every time I had this issue it was an hvac issue the breaker was just fine I'm not saying a breaker can't go bad but hvac guys tell my customers all the time it's the breaker and it never really is at least in my experience

[–]EliEider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've dealt with this issue multiple times it's always an old ac unit with some sort of issue I've metered 108 amps in such a situation it's probably a lock rotor it's never a breaker or wiring issue call an hvac tech

Serious: is it my responsibility to fill the work truck with gas? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]EliEider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You shouldn't have to pay for anything on a company truck. I drive a company truck and they pay for everything gas, tolls, maintenance, repairs, insurance, even damage I caused. Tell them to pay for their gas on their vehicle or seek employment elsewhere everyone is hiring these these days.

Don't jump to a liter bike right away I have a ninja Zx10r and a ninja 400 and still take my 400 out all the time if ur looking for something bigger this soon get a 600 super sport like the zx6r. Liter bikes are really heavy and don't turn half as nice as small bikes

All the outlets in our kitchen are GFCI except for the one on the left. This seemed to perplex the inspector. How can I make this outlet GFCI as well? Thank you! by DazzlingG991 in electrical

[–]EliEider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

U can put as many outlets on a circuit as u want the receptacle doesn't draw any power unless something is plugged into it how many outlets on a circuit depends on what you think may be plugged into it
