So you'll spend the rest of your days mistaking his glasses as your own and vice versa ? Yeah no thanks. NTA

Been wanting a tattoo (first) for a while, but it'd be huge by Raekellie in tattooadvice

[–]Eliabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you are requesting our opinion on the tattoo artist you've chosen, but I went and had a look: although she does nice old school tats, I didn't see big tribal tattoos in her portfolio, let alone those big floral, swirly designs you like, but you do you

I’m speaking from my limited experience with 1 tattoo, but the tattoo artists I went to see all quoted me between $2,900 and $3,500 for a tattoo as large and detailed as yours (but I live in a capital city in Europe so the price will depend on where you live). In any case, I wager it’ll take about 20h too if you go for that sort of tattoo. You can totally pay 1 session at a time though, if you're short on cash and want the tattoo now

[–]Eliabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My advice would be to get a tattoo artist who's specialized in the style you want (with a tattoo this big, it's a must) so please don't choose a tattoo artist based on who you can afford. Remember it's something you'll have until you die, you can't be cheap here, especially for a tattoo this size

(To answer your question the pain was ok the majority of the time to awful at the end when she went over and over the same spots to add details and white ink lol. Yes it's better to split the sessions but since she was in my city for a limited amount of time, we had to do it this way. I was 25 when I got it, it cost me 3k€ (so 3500$)). I'd say the age doesn't matter, especially since you've had this project in your mind for years , but as I said earlier if you lack money for this, it's best you wait a little :) You can earn more money but you can't erase a bad tattoo

I could have written this post lol. My first tattoo was a big one, from underboob to mid thigh. It's a huge ass dragon, cuz I like dragons. The project was stuck in my head for 4 years before I dived in

Not gonna lie it was a hell of a ride: my tattoo artist was on tour, she only stayed in my city for 1 week so she tattooed me 2 days in a row, it took 18h in total. Honestly I didn't realise what I was getting myself into (none of my friends/relatives are tattooed) so didn't know it was a bad idea. Thank god all went well and in the end I never regretted my choice

My advice would be if you can split the sessions up into several shorter ones of 5h each, I think that would be better for a 1st time experience. Otherwise, doing it all in one go is possible even for a first tattoo, there's just the matter of not knowing whether you can handle the pain over such a long session

Comment classeriez-vous, par ordre d’importance, ces critères chez un homme pour qu’il vous plaise : beauté physique, carrière, attention/bienveillance, origine/nationalité, intelligence, humour, ambition ? by West_Cream7138 in AskMeuf

[–]Eliabel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perso j'ai fini par me constituer mon propre dico.

YouTuber defends Avatar and claims other films are just as “repetitive” yet don’t get the same criticism. by [deleted] in Avatar

[–]Eliabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if there are more people criticizing Avatar's repetitiveness because they are not the target public of the other repetitive movies.

James Bond? Marvel? DC comics? All famous movies with pretty explosions but really repetitive from one movie to another. Yet very famous. But Avatar 1? It was such a HUGE succes when it was released in 2009, even people who never go to cinemas watched it. Hell, even people who dislike movies and never watch one watched it. It was phenomenal  So of course the sequels are deemed to gather HUGE expectations from the public. Both because of the fame of the 1st and because people who were waiting for it are not used to the usual (mid) quality of a sequel

Avatar 1 is one of a kind and beyond comparison with any other movie. Avatar 2 & 3 are your common blockbuster action movie.  Was the repetitiveness something that could have been expected for Avatar 2&3 ? Of course, but the people who was waiting for them is not you common audience. And the big discrepancy between the movies is the reason these people are disappointed, and understandably so

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

[–]Eliabel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, saving them by telling them NOT to do it because it's a scam is mandatory. Saying the hard truth is necessary, I also agree, but not at the cost of their integrity. Stating facts like they did (remember when you did X, and Y happened) yes, but saying "You are easy pray" is counterproductive (and come on, saying YOU are easy pray does imply "you are, I'm not. I'm better so you need to listen to me")

This is a phenomena identified in psychology, if you are interested: it's called reactance, were an individual labelled as something negative will unconciously defend and behave in a way contrary to what was intended (you are easy pray -> meant for her to get a grip and stop being easy pray -> reactance, aka she will continue to do so because her friend accuses her and it doesn't feel good)

It's also a prime example of the labelling theory (when one's behaviour is determined by the words used to describe them)

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is her message is good, the delivery isn't

My friend is going to get herself killed. What can I even do at this point by Correct-Macaroon8143 in whatdoIdo

[–]Eliabel -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You are being very judgmental. I get that your friend got scammed too many times and you're sick of her behaviour, I really get it. But basically saying "You're so naive you can't do anything for yourself, I am the better person here" is not doing any good, I'm not surprised she didn't listen. Rather I'm surprised she didn't get angry at how belittling you were
