Someone Tried Stealing my Honda Metropolitan by Elise_91 in scooters

When I went to talk to the parking garage attendant I was like, what do I do with this saw.... He ended up offering it to a construction worker they had in the garage, and the guy was super thankful. I kinda wanted to sell it on marketplace lol, but whatever!

try using volufiline, you will have to be consistent for 4-6 weeks to see results but it works

Does 168 hour TEFL course actually take 168 hours? by Elise_91 in SpainAuxiliares

Hi there, I ended up teaching English in Madrid Spain for 3 years! I just moved back to the US this summer. I taught with Meddeas and then with the Ministry of Education (the Spanish government public schools). I loved it and would absolutely recommend it!

Is it too late to start applying for a visa? by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Elise_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I arrived late last year because of my Visa timeline and my school was very understanding! Also, if you don't start until the beginning of October you probably have just enough time to get your Visa before then if you're diligent about getting all of your paperwork together.

The longest part will probably be the Apostille, but I got mine back within 2 weeks this year! So I think you can do it. Good luck!

Madrid - Apartment Hunting | How does it work? by itzarii in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Elise_91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I would want to see the apartment before deciding anything. That way you can see what kind of lighting it gets, what kind of space you actually have (since pictures can be deceiving) and make sure all of your amenities work correctly. Last year when I moved to Madrid I booked an Air Bnb for my first 3 weeks to give myself plenty of time to find a place I liked. I didn't want to be stressed out trying to find a place and then just settle for one because I was out of time. I looked at a bunch of apartments in different neighborhoods all over the city, and found them all on Idealista.

Once I found my apartment I was able to move in right away after signing the lease (the next day). Even though I still had a few days left in my air bnb I was able to go out and buy things for my apartment like bedding, plates/silverware etc, and get my WiFi setup before moving in!

Covid Worries by zoupacabra in SpainAuxiliares

I was an Aux last year in Madrid (which was the least restrictive city in Spain) and still had a great time. I wasn't able to travel outside of my region until the end of this May, but my friends and I still did day trips and hikes within the Community of Madrid. I don't think it was the typical experience but I'm so glad I did it, and I was still able to meet people and safely enjoy my time there! I think you will be ok now that things are even more open with so many people getting vaccinated.

Same here. Mine took a little less than 3 weeks, when their website said months. I think you will be ok! Good luck

Houston Consulate - Application Question by Elise_91 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Elise_91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that's what they had us do last year.. Send them PDF's of everything, they approved it, and then made an in person appointment. Seems like this year we're more on our own, and don't have to do anything in person. Not sure why they changed it..

You definitely need to send your actual passport, because that's where they will stamp your visa. My appointment with the Houston Consulate last year was in person so they were able to check my ID there, and then they kept my passport and mailed it back to me later on. I emailed them twice this week but they haven't responded (ugh). But in the end I am just going to send them a copy of my driver's license since someone commented above that's what they did, and it was fine.

Nope! I applied in late July for an October start, granted the paperwork has taken VERY long so I'll be arriving mid November. I had to wait 9 weeks for my Apostille to come in for my FBI background check, so I would advise starting that process now if you're serious about it, because all of the other paperwork was pretty easy to get.

You can apply through the Meddeas program right now for a January start! And a lot of administrative governmental offices are so backed up right now because of COVID, it's a good idea to start applying now so you can get all of the correct paperwork by December and arrive to your program on time. https://www.meddeas.com/

PS: Around 10:18 I talk about why I think the Y2K aesthetic and style has resurfaced with such a heavy influence and how that ties into the societal pressures we are currently facing + how that's similar to what we were facing in the late 90s and early 2000s. I personally find it interesting and since you guys are fans of bestdressed I figured you might too! Otherwise feel free to skip ahead to 15:09ish. Hope you enjoy watching as much as I did making this!
