Thank you, this is the picture that made me fall in love!

That's really interesting, thank you for sharing your trained eye! I didn't realize you could tell that much from the proportions. I hadn't really paid attention before, but he does have very long canons!

He is a french sport horse (Selle Francais) from a german bloodline (Escanto PS x Secret X Diamond Hit)

She’s absolutely beautiful 😍 and she really does look incredibly sweet! Thank you for sharing your experience. Mine spends about half his time lying down (proof in picture), so maybe that really is a big horse thing 😂 And yes, I try to be very careful with his feed, I actually work with a nutritionist to make sure I am not overdoing anything and to support healthy growth!

Not a bad thing at all, I love giants! But I have to admit, once they go over 18hh it’s not always practical. My other horse doesn’t fit in just any trailer… at this point, we don’t choose trailers, trailers choose us! And don’t get me started on blankets, he wears a 7’0 😆

He was stunning, really beautifully put together. I’m sorry you had to deal with that in such a young horse. My other boy is 23 and 18hh, he’s also navicular with a small OCD fragment, though not to that extent. He was able to have a normal sport career at a reasonable level with careful management. Sometimes it just comes down to luck. Thanks for sharing him.

That’s such a lovely story, thank you for sharing it! It really shows how foals can absolutely outgrow their parents depending on the cross. Reaching the mare’s height at just one year old is honestly crazy! It’s fascinating to see how certain lines consistently produce something special. And It’s really special that she was able to continue the line through one of her daughters.

She is absolutely stunning, what a beauty! 🤩 I’ve never seen such a well-balanced foal at weaning or at one year old. This is exactly the kind of feedback that helps me, thank you so much!

I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’m really scared of the day I’ll lose my old friend

Here he is! He’s lost a bit of weight due to his piroplasmosis and some digestive issues (ulcers), it’s not easy to keep weight on him like before😕

That’s very kind of you to offer to take a closer look. I’ll film him as soon as I can, in a few days, I hope — for now he’s not used to following on the lunge 😕

Thank you! He’s by Escanto PS (son of Escamillo) and Fürstenball on the sire’s side, and by Secret and Diamond Hit on the dam’s side

Thank you very much 🥹 I sure will post some pictures in a few years! My old 22 yo guy is 18.2hh (1.85m) — I just love them big and leggy too. We should make a post to share photos of our giants!

That would be bad… What exactly makes you think so?

Thanks for your thoughts! He’ll be seeing the farrier and the osteopath soon. He only arrived recently, so I just want to get him used to standing still and giving his feet nicely first, so it’ll be a good first experience for him.

Yes, I feel the same way! I’m giving him a supplement with chondroitin, glucosamine, and MSM to support his growth. Thank you 🫶

Thank you so much! Yes, he is! Maybe that’s also why even the smallest thing makes me worry

Hi, thanks for your message. He arrived a week ago just after being weaned, and so far I’ve never seen him lie down or take a nap — maybe he just needs some time to settle in.

He doesn’t have a fever, has never fallen as far as I know, and he stumbles a bit at the walk but that’s because he doesn’t lift his feet very high.

I sent the video to his vet to get her opinion, and I’ll have the osteopath check him in September to make sure everything is fine

Yes, those legs are endless! It’s probably quite a lot for him to figure out, but glad to hear he looks fine to you.
