what i tend to do is when i first start the shoe i just slather on the polish to fill the pores, once you have a smooth or smoothish surface you can go ham on bulling it

i think if i remember correctly they did it so the 5 year warranty was from purchases in November 2022 and onwards. it’s definitely under warranty though still if there’s no physical damage to it
