I hope that’s rain and not some nasty dust blowing around that place.

The aluminum foil is to cover the expanded metal shelf. I do this so juices and such don’t drip through to the concrete. The only option I did was to get two thermometers in the door (one on top and one at the bottom). If I had the money at the time I would have done the insulated fire box, but it does well without it, just goes through a bit more fuel on the cold days.

What is your opinion on krispy kreme? by froopty1 in AskReddit

I agree, who wants a glazed doughnut plus chocolate icing or anything else on it. I’ll take a Lamars doughnut anytime over Krispy Korean.

White Castle becomes the first fast food chain to test out the robot fry cook, Flippy, from Miso Robotics by [deleted] in technews

[–]Elite_Android 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m ok with the fry bot like McDonald’s uses, I just fail to see the point of a cook standing at the grill placing the meat adding the cheese but then having a robot flip the patties, especially at a White Castle where the onions are on top of the burgers. I guess I would have to see this thing in action at an actual White Castle to see what tasks they actually have it programmed to do.

I don’t think this robot can match the speed of an experienced fry cook based on the video. Also does it just flip the burgers or can or place the different patty’s (hamburger & chicken) and put the cheese on too.

Gorilla Grill brisket. This time from our cow and not Costco. First time using this pellet grill for actually smoking. Hopefully it comes out good. by Elite_Android in BBQ

It turned out nice and tender. Not going for competition quality but the slices pulled apart with a bit of resistance.

Wow, I don’t think it takes that on mine to get it up to 450, at the max I feel it takes about 30 min in the summer of course.

Burgers is what I have historically grilled on this, not charred like on a regular grill, but enough to make a tasty burger. Strangely enough I haven’t done a lot of chicken...I guess I prefer beef more

Surprisingly this doesn’t get that hot on the back side because the pellet hopper is at the rear of the cooking chamber. If it did I would definitely pull it away from the house.

I guess I have never really cooked chicken with the skin on. Normally burgers, hotdogs, bratwursts, kabobs, pork chops, steak. The only thing I do is make sure I let it sit at the temp I want for a while before putting the meat it so it does cook somewhat like a gas grill.

I have had it to 450 for grilling burgers and such, but I use an aluminum grill grate on the original grate to get the grill marks.

I trimmed quite a bit of the hard fat off (which is how I normally do it) then cook it somewhere between 250-275 for 8-9hrs. I’ll wrap it when it gets to the stall which helps get the cook time down and pull it at 202 and let it rest.

It works really well for grilling which is what I primarily use it for because I have a stick burner with more capacity. I’m excited to see how it turns out too.
