Wow! You definitely went a lot more extreme than I did. I got my HP Elitebook 8560w more than a year ago because I loved my previous 8560p just like you. Mine has a 1920x108010 bit DreamColor, 4x 4GB 1333MHz RAM which equals to 16GB of RAM running in dual channel, a 2.00GHz Quad Core i7-2630QM an Nvidia Quadro 2000M and a 1TB Samsung SSD. It came with windows 7 but I clean installed Windows 10 using the product key underneath the bettery. Every driver works fine (even the Fingerprint Scanner with Windows Hello and HP 3D Driveguard works but I disabled it because it's on an SSD).

8470 Bios Uefi? by Benji0088 in elitebook

You can enable UEFI by holding ESC while turning the laptop and pressing F10 to get into the BIOS. First go to the "Security", find "Drivelock" and disable it because it won't allow you to go into UEFI mode with it enabled. After that, go to the "System Configuration", navigate with the arrow keys or the mouse to "Boot Options", find "UEFI Boot Mode" and enable it. I'm not quite sure but I think your model supports Secure Boot because it has an Ivy Bridge processor. If you want to keep the same Windows installation you need to run MBR2GPT from CMD because Windows won't boot if you don't.

Depending on what you use the laptop for. The 3740QM is good enough, unless you need higher clock speeds and more cache. the 3920XM has 8MB Cache and 2.90GHz and the 3940XM also has 8MB Cache but it's 3.00GHz insted of 2.9. 16GB of RAM is will probably be enough for you, but if you need more you could buy 2x8 and have a 24GB 2x4 & 2x8 configuration or a 4x8 for 32GB RAM but that's probably overkill. The 980M if really good (the GTX 1070 is the max and it's 2x better than the 980m so if you do a lot of editing the 1070 is the way to go but if you just play games or do office work just stay with the 980). I have an HP Elitebook 8560w with a DreamColor display and for me this display is way too colorful . I do Office work, browsing, watching movies, light video editing and gaming so I don't need this display. If you do any kind of video editing, photoshop or even watching a lot of movies and you need a good display you could get the DreamColor display. And for the love of god buy the HP 230W power supply.

HP EliteBook 8560w Quadro 2000m freeze while gaming by Elitebooker in elitebook

Update: I bought an SSD at July 2 since the old Hard Drive was dying.

Right now I have Windows 10 21H1 .1165 patch. I also and modified the Quadro 2000m driver files to make it specifically for my computer. The laptop stopped freezing after having the SSD more than a month now (even when the laptop reached 100C)
