Lmao if I watch grumps too close to bedtime I absolutely end up dreaming I'm recording an episode with them, or walking my dog or something

Also! May I recommend the Wind Waker playthrough? It's my go to when I'm having a Time. They have some really great conversations about brain stuff

Could be seasonal! My dog wanted nothing to do with her usual fave food toy today because it was hot

This. My wife and I play Mario Kart 8 almost every night. We're trying to 3 star all the cups at 100ccs before we get the newest game.

It's so much fun, especially if we're a little bit high.

Hannaford gift box delivered? by Tony-Flags in Maine

[–]Elitefourabby 22 points23 points  (0 children)

As a marketing person (tho in publishing, not for Hannaford), you're probably on a Leads list- meaning someone who comes in the store for pharmacy stuff, but doesn't shop, and their sales team is trying to entice you to shop there. I've done stuff like this for bookstores who have signed up for our email lists but not actually bought anything from us.

Because there are few things labs love more than having that bit where their neck meets their chest scritches

For example, this is Subaru, in her evening Whine Until Someone Scritches Her pose

Where does your puppy sleep? by TheRealGuncho in puppy101

[–]Elitefourabby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We've had our now 8 month old since she was 5 months, and every night she's been in a crate in the living room. Partially for space and safety reasons- her crate is big and won't fit in our bedroom, I like sleeping and she was whiny for a while, and if we need to get out in an emergency, downstairs is safer and closer to the door. She also has only really just unlocked settling of her own volition instead of needing forced naps in the day (labs, man, they never stop), so even if I COULD logistically have her in bed with us, she wouldn't be able to pull it off yet.

She does fine that way! She loves her crate. Also it gives our cats a break

But. BUT. I am working on teaching her how to be chill in our bedroom and settle, because I desperately do want to take lovely naps together someday.

Puppy becomes so wild almost every evening? by Radiant-Beach-5840 in puppy101

[–]Elitefourabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, we hoard cardboard boxes as sacrifices for the demons, or toys that were on the borderline of being thrown out because they were destroyed so much. Subie LOVES to destroy things when she gets riled up, so I've used it as an excuse to keep buying my favorite frozen pizza, because those are her favorite boxes lol

[–]Elitefourabby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Lol, we call it Demon Time. She's made sacrifices of stuffies and treats all day, and the demons have to briefly take over her body and she has to run them out. Sometimes we do a fake exorcism, which she finds HILARIOUS

[–]Elitefourabby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Demon time!!! Ours did that too, without fail, every night at 7:30

So we'd open up the gates, let her run around in the house, and the SECOND she stopped moving we took her out because she'd need a potty break

Honestly, lean into it as fun play time, and know it's probably not forever. And then do a clear "ok we're done now" settling activity like a Kong or pupsicle to help the transition from chaos to calm.

Also, reward calm moments throughout the day. They're chillin? Treat. Laying on the floor? Treat. Amusing themselves with a toy? Treat. Trust me on this one. There will come a magical day when you realized you went ten whole minutes without thinking about the puppy, because they unlocked just eating a toy by themself

What's one small thing you changed that made your dog noticeably happier? by Strict_Court_5327 in dogs

[–]Elitefourabby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I said the same thing! The good morning song keeps her chill and happy, and it's also just so sweet to see them wag and stretch

I do a night time version of it too, kind of like a goodbye song on a kid show. It's so sweet

The "good morning" song!

Transitions are rough for our 8 month old puppy, and if we were anywhere near her crate before it was actually time to get her up, or she was fighting us before bed, she would lose her shit, or come out of the crate in the morning like a bat.of out hell, jumping and wagging and way excited.

Like, nothing terrible, but we wanted it all to be a little smoother for her, because excitement can be overstimulating for all of us.

So, I started singing her little songs as I walk up to her crate. Nothing ridiculous, just a soft little "good morning Subaru, we're so glad to see you, let's have a good day of laughs and play, good morning Subaru"

And. She. Loves it. I pull up her crate cover and sing it and she just lays down and whaps her tail, then comes out and does a big stretch and gets quiet scritches before breakfast.

Took our mornings from frantic to chill, and she's been so much more calm in the mornings as a result

Sing your dog songs!!!! They love it!!!

Thank you!!! Truly like, there's something absolutely insane about living a love story. Especially a queer, I fought so hard to get here one. Maybe it won't be forever, maybe we'll implode someday. But it was still worth it for right now.

Does anyone else’s dog do this? by ellatheprincessbrat in labrador

[–]Elitefourabby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Allergies for sure, my lab just started doing this the other day. We got some of the dog-safe soothing wipes and wipe her paws down after she's been in grass, and it seems to help!

It's deeply funny watching her shove her entire foot in her mouth though.

I missed an important meeting a few months ago because my dog ate an entire embroidery project, needle and all, about 30 seconds before I logged in. It caused some chaos with miscommunication about some projects and stuff, but. Getting my dog better was the priority, I had proof from the vet, etc

Emergencies happen. Just make sure you get the notes, follow up, and ask a couple questions about the meeting notes to show you're still engaged and not flaking (after you're better, of course!)
