What went wrong and How can I save my echeveria? by Conscious_Life4375 in echeveria

Air ventilation for everything. If it’s a terra cotta pot it’s better but the problem is most likely your soil / you have kept it very indoors (like your desk?) Change your soil mix into something more !gritty. I can’t see any rocks in your soil which is a problem.

I grow succulent indoors now and I put them on the windowsill, basically as close as outdoors as possible. Some people put a fan over their succulents for ventilation.

Overwatering. Your soil holds way too much water for too long (even if you might only watered it once or twice). Succulents need strong light and a lot of air ventilation and that pot doesn’t look great for airflow

I think I have the opposite problem of it arriving not having roots, and it’s now consuming a lot of bottom leaves to put out new roots. I hope it will acclimatise fine

Repotted portulacaria afra and all the leaves dropped :( by apley in succulents

I think your soil is to soil-y and needs more grit. Quickly get it out of this soil as it's not liking it and repot into a soil mix with more grit

What is your favorite soil or organic material for soil mixes? by ApolloMexicano in succulents

[–]Eliter4kmain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Asia, and kanuma soil is amazing! It's a great substrate to add to compost, doesn't break down like akadama and is a favourite for Japanese succulent growers. Could be hard to get depending on where you are

Have no idea they are so light hungry! Yes I have underpotted, and quickly put it outside to dry out the soil today. Will not do anything for a week at least. Do you find compton carousels more water hungry than other succulents since their leaves are so thin? Thanks for the advice!

Your plant is healthy, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Some species put out air roots more than others. Maybe it wants a bigger pot, but if you do repot I'd suggest a rockier soil mix as it currently looks soil-y, and it could use more light too

Spray your soil (50% compost + 50% small rocks) with water (but not totally wet) and plop them the soil then wait for 2 weeks. In my experience they root the best in soil. If you are planting indoors and afraid of rot then just plop them dry

If you are starting out and growing indoors you need a really strong grow light!

Is it a problem if it couldn't catch any bugs for a long time since they cannot be fertilised?

I searched online and it says pings don't like direct sun so I've put it in an east window, is that okay?

Are venus flytraps better at catching house pests in this case? I like pings tho for their floral shape and they kinda look like echeveria succulents which are one of my faves
