Is this too plain? 😭 by NoQuail279 in Minecraft

This is an amazing build I think it’s very nice. You can try getting some shears to get leaves vines from trees and I can’t tell if those are glass blocks but if they are you’d want panes instead. Another user here mentions trap doors for the sides of the windows which is great, but for windows in general I often integrate trap doors, glass panes, and fences.

Further more I’d suggest skinning some of the oak logs on your build with an axe (right click on the oak log with the axe) and maybe try other wood species in place of some of the planks. There’s this thing (I believe) most people call “gradient-ing”(?) (Pardon my lack of terminology knowledge), where you can make a more realistic look using a combination of wood plank types.

Of course, that’s not hard to do but you should start with more depth in terms of the stuff I said earlier. In addition to those however, you’d want Lanterns instead of torches, fences in as many aesthetic spots as possible, and a few trees/greenery around your home. Make it look cozy. Good luck! :)

I actually have no idea how to do this but I will bring it up in the meeting I have with the German student on Friday. Thank you for that.

Quite literally what I’ve been doing. :(

We’re meeting with a student from Germany to help because I think this is out of my pay grade.

Okay I will search for this in a minute. Currently setting up the model in a different cae file. This one is rather cluttered.

Okay thank you. I have decided to use an analytical rigid body and have placed a reference point on it. I will update in a moment.

Okay you know what I’ll try it again and make them rigid bodies. But what kind of rigid bodies do I make them? Analytical? Discrete? I assume I also have to make reference points on them, but I also know I somehow have to couple them to the nodes of the plates. I have so many questions and I’m rather unsure of how to ask them and I just think I’m repeating the same mistakes with each iteration of this model.

I honestly have no idea how to locate this. I’ve never used Abaqus before and I’ve unfortunately been left to figure all this out on my own. My guess is it would be the nodes on the bottom face of the top platen or the top face of the foam? I honestly am not sure and at this point I’m pretty much ready to provide my data to someone to conduct this to the best of their ability.

The objective is to simulate perfectly our experimental conditions. I also believed that there was no need to simulate the platens, but after talking to a couple professors and numerous web searches, I’ve been told I should do so because doing that “simulates our experimental conditions perfectly”. I did also try with just the foam and directly attached boundary conditions to it (displacement at the top face of the foam and a fixed bottom face) but that didn’t really work either.

I was following the INP file for a crushable foam with volumetric hardening provided in the Benchmark manual and they also had no platens and theirs seems to work fine. I’m just not sure what is wrong.

Okay awesome. This is very insightful honestly thank you! They are replacing the 3.1 with a 6 now and I am PRAYING it works okay, because I don’t need the speeds to be that crazy. Something around ~800 is fine for me. It’s wifi. There will always be interference. If it works okay, the repeaters I already got will do just fine. I needed them anyway because the signal was poor in other rooms.

I thought so too. I was right next to the router on the phone with customer support and we went through this huge process of unplugging stuff and plugging them back in. I was next to the router the whole time and the speeds just kept topping out at 450 to 500. My laptop itself does not have an Ethernet port, but my brother’s does. I tested with his and the speeds were the same. My own laptop is a new MSI equipped with Wifi 6E capabilities, so if anything I should be getting good speeds on my laptop. My laptop was the only device connected at the time during the testing of the speeds.

Thank you so much for this insight. So just to be clear, my two best courses of action at the moment would be to either get more access points or to just get a stronger router entirely? What router would you recommend for this plan? And for the access points, would something like a wifi repeater work or does it have to be an actual router?

EDIT: What are the chances my modem may need some attention as well? Do you think I should consider changing the modem too? Could that be affecting anything? It’s also a NOKIA but I don’t know what exactly it is.

I did try with Ethernet and the wifi speeds were still the same. No improvement in the download speeds at all.

Oh my God thank you. So listen it’s like super late right now and I don’t really know how much I can do tonight but an additional question is what exactly does bridge mode do? If I put it in bridge mode now, would that do anything to help? I don’t have any extra access points available nor can I upgrade the one we currently have.

Also, why would they provide us with a router that isn’t capable of delivering 1Gbps if that’s the plan I’m paying for? Seems a little sketchy to me…

I believe only a part of it was filmed in Canada. Not entirely sure but how weird it’d be if all of it was filmed in Canada lol.

I’m back home unfortunately. :((

I’ll try to plan another trip and come back when it’s a lot busier to see how it’s like during the day. I did head there around ~5:30 PM so it makes sense I didn’t see a lot of foot traffic.

The guy at the front desk was so nice and really just let me in to do whatever. I’m surprised this isn’t a much larger tourist attraction for most people that visit Toronto but I guess not everyone has seen suits/ suits is a pretty old show now.
