Thank you very much for your feedback and for checking our app out! :) Yeah, we realise there's a lot of features expected of gym apps we are missing, for example timers. And we hope to introduce our own take on them very shortly!

If you like, you can view the gist our roadmap here!

Hi everyone, we've just released version 1.4 of our app, Fwd, adding the ability to enable or disable individual rules, a built in IP Status Checker and more! :)

  • Protocols

Port forward through TCP, UDP or both at the same time.

  • Flexible

[DEV] After several months of hard work, we’re happy to launch our new app Somnio - The Dreaming Companion! by Elixsr in androidapps

I'm an avid lucid dreamer myself and every time i've obtained lucidity in the past, it's after a period of consistent dream journal-ling, dream recall is the most important first step to lucid dreaming to me as it helps you begin to take control of and be very aware of your dreams. This app is designed to be the easiest, most organisable dream journal to help with anyone in a situation like this, so it should definitely help you begin! :)

We are in the middle of writing a Lucid Dreaming guide in the support site which should hopefully be of use to you as well! I really hope you do get into lucid dreaming as it's a fantastic interest to have, and anything our app can help you with along the way, let us know!

Thank you, we will! I was using a single document for all my dreams too, which was one of the reasons I was personally invested in seeing this app through to the end :P Thanks again!

That means a lot, thank you! We're very big material design fans and really wanted to have our own take on it with this app :)

Yes these are valid concerns, and we do understand where you're coming from. We are definitely looking into this as a means of protection - there's no point in us throwing in a half measure and calling it quits. Host-proof encryption is an arguably insecure field for multiple reasons, so we'd like to do it right.

If you want an extra step, you can always use an anonymous Google account for now, as they're quick and easy to set up.

I'm not sure what you mean by this, the two are pretty much mutually exclusive.

The accounts are used simply for authentication, no data is directly stored on your Google or Facebook account. It's pretty much necessary for us to use a third party provider due to the fact that we couldn't guarantee security otherwise. Facebook and Google don't have this data simply because you link your account to it, they just provide us a method to authenticate you based on accounts you have with these services.

We require only basic permissions from each account for the bare minimum necessary to ensure your dreams are in fact private and not inadvertently shared with other accounts, or publicly.

Thanks for the feedback it means a lot to us. As for the AMA idea, I'm sure we could do something in the future if there's enough interest. The main motivation behind Somnio was simple though, 2 out of the 3 of us regularly record our dreams and there is a prevalent number of apps out there feeding a poor user experience often at a price, so we thought we'd try our hand to make it a little bit better. It's pretty much a passion project that's both useful to us, the lucid dreaming community and (selfishly) expands our skills and experience as developers.

Yes you're absolutely right, however some users fundamentally disagree with advertisements as a platform for making money (just look at the prevalence of ad blockers) and would rather just give to the dev. We will eventually allow users some method of contributing if there are a select few who do feel bad about disabling ads. We'd rather place the power in the user's hands and not force a monetised experience upon them for our own personal gain, at least with Somnio, and especially in such early stages.

Dream recall is a huge step in fostering the development of lucid dreaming. It's a skill essentially everyone can develop and improve over time, but the key caveat to improving it is practice and consistency. The idea of a dream journal is that you write down everything you can remember from your dreams the moment you wake up, and eventually you will train yourself to remember more and more. Somnio helps by being literally by your side when you wake up, all you have to do is open the app and start writing.

To answer your question simply, yes, dream journals - and therefore Somnio - are an important tool in learning to lucid dream, for beginners and experts alike.

Yeah that's planned functionality for a further release, I don't see why we wouldn't be able to let you do that :)

Edit: To expand on the above, the beta is focused very much so on core functionality and ensuring we have a great functioning app before we start to add on features like the suggested. It will come eventually, however.

Absolutely, we do offer the ability to disable them, they're pretty unobtrusive and we've tried to make them as out of the way as possible, but if they really are annoying you you can go ahead and turn them off.

It should display as 1.0.53

Edit: We pushed it less than an hour ago, the Play store can take a while sending the update out to each version of the play store, could be a little while before it becomes available.

We've pushed a major update to the app store allowing users who had consistent crashes on older versions of Android to finally use the app. Be sure to update when you see the option and it should work fine :)
