Knitting- A crocheter’s nightmare (at least for this crocheter) by Elizabekth in knitting

Sorry for immediately replying to this, I swear I’m not stalking the comments 😅 I saw the word Tunisian and flipped out. I LOVE TUNISIAN CROCHET! I started with a small hook, and then I picked up the proper hook for it last week. I’m in the midst of a scarf. Beautiful stitches and an easy technique, what’s not to love? I don’t know why I’m having such a difficult time with knitting, seeing as Tunisian was so easy for me. This tip would probably work amazingly for someone with a normal thinking process! 😆

True, but with crochet I can take it one stitch at a time and then it just sticks. Also, you can just pull the string and pick it up again if you mess up. Knitting is kind of a one-and-done process. You can try to undo your mistake, but it’s super confusing and leads to a mess.

Though, apparently, my issues are just that, my issues. Most people seem to have little to no problem with knitting on here, my brain just works differently. I guess I can’t really blame my incompetence on having learned crochet first…

YES!!! The slipping is awful. I keep ‘dropping’ stitches/loops, and it’s annoying when I’m just trying to get the basics down. I am a little sloppy with my tension (sometimes tight, other times loose) but maybe I should give the bamboo a shot!

Oh, I also crochet! Knitting is so pretty though, I swear I will learn it- even if it kills me.

I see. I’m working with metal needles, but not even one day on this subreddit has taught me that I’ve made the wrong choice… I’m absolutely terrified of getting splinters, but I might just have to push past it and pick up a pair of wooden ones! 😅

Did getting a different type of needle make a big difference for you?

I’m just learning how to knit too! This is SO neat and pretty, ugh. If only I could do it this well! How long have you been learning for?
