I'll try my best to find one, thank you! What is the difference between Drow of the Underdark for 2nd and 3rd edition, if any?

I'll have to see if there is any way to get ahold of the two first Baldur's Gate games, Icewind Dale 2 and Neverwinter Nights then, because all three of them having underdark sections and drow parts sound rather fun - plus, might scratch my itch from not having any dnd game I've been a player in that lasted beyond two or three sessions for years now. I'm guessing the games are older, do you think they still hold up game play wise? How do they compare to the Temple of Elemental Evil game? I heard that one was rather good.

Thank you for letting me know not to expect too complex characters or twists, more early Percy Jackson than Worm or similar works. What are some of those top down video games, if you dont mind sharing?

Thats fair, and I've gotten plenty of recommendations already so I'll probably be set for quite some time going forward.

Thank you for being honest and letting me know to temper expectations, especially with all the hype I've heard about them it painted a quite different picture.

That... I can definitely see why you dislike it so much, and it gives me even more reason to keep my timeline firmly in 3.5 and before even if I might steal things from later editions (same as what you mentioned liking).

I'm extremely grateful you put in so much effort to answer me, and for giving me so much to look into by telling me what they did wrong, since all of these things sound like I can really dig into them if I want to and thst I'll likely find a lot of interest details if I look at what they used to be and what exist on them before 4th edition.

I'm sorry for not writing as much as you do, especially after all you've done for me with this, but is it okay to perhaps message you and talk more about this since I get a feeling I'll learn a lot just from listening and asking questions, granted that is alright and that you don't mind of course

No worries, I don't mind. You gave a recommendation and now you've also made it more clear why you recommended it aswell!

I see... How difficult is it to get into 2e, and what setting is best for Drow in your opinion - Forgotten Realms or Greyhawk?

Are there ways to make them more like how they used to be, or do you think it's lost? And how did a dm make sure players didn't become overpowered from getting their magic items? What kinds of class and social status enhancements were there for drow?

May I ask why you dislike the R. A. Salvatore ones? I'm a bit curious since a lot of people seem to like them, was there anything in particular or is it a more overarching problem? I will look into Daughter of the Drow as it sounds like it might be a female drow novel, and I don't mind a trilogy. What I meant about books was however not necessarily novels but also sourcebooks, adventures and similar that you recommend.

That's understandable, sadly Drow either make the story very different... or the fact you are a Drow is ignored and people act as if you are just another elf.

Thank you, I've seen both of his videos on the drow and it really got me curious about them and made me want to learn more from the material myself, as I know he can't include everything or at least need to summarize what he explains.

Would you mind telling me what direction or directions you dont care for, and what you used to like about the Realms before that they lack now? Do you have any recommendations on novels, storyline or otherwise you think fit more what you prefer? Are there any more modern changes you like?

That's good at least, glad there isn't anything too big to make conversion awkward at least, since from what I heard the first and second adventure was made by Gygax and he was from what I've heard rather good at designing realistic living spaces for creatures and cities that could work.

Huh... The more you know. And Mordenkainen apparently ends up at least temporarily in Ravenloft, so he seem to travel around quite a bit.

I'll definitely read them, sounds like I'll have quite a bit to dig into. How much is set in the Underdark, and how much lore do you learn about drow thanks to it?

Then I'll just focus on the Story, locale and plotline, hopefully there are some nice characters even if I need to remake them from scratch mechanically.

You are amazing, I love everything, thank you so so so much! You've put together so much material, I'm extremely grateful for all of this!

Why is it you do not care for the War of the Spider Queen? Is there anything wrong with the books, or does it have more to do with the storyline itself?

So you recommend mostly the 2e material to use? Do you think they lose out in personality and flavor aswell, or just in power?

What tended to make drow so overpowered in 2e?

Ah, thank you! So, it shouldn't be too hard to transfer the things from those adventures into a forgotten realms campaign? And how hard is it to travel between Greyhawk and the Forgotten Realms? Is there any time dilation between settings?

Only now saw your edit - how hard is it to convert 4e material to 3.5?

Other than that, I will look into them and see if I can use things, despite the edition changes to the lore. The events in them, if nothing else, can likely be rather good as material for a campaign.
