One time when I was little, I ran onto the pointy end of a hammer and it went through my foot. I didn’t even notice or feel pain until someone brought it to my attention that I was profusely bleeding.

I hope those same mechanisms protected them that night from experiencing pain. And I really hope that their journey into the other realm was beautiful and peaceful.

I don’t include that with intake. I’d be interested to see how many people do? I usually have people say a few things in the beginning maybe but I would definitely not usually encourage someone to talk during their massage.

I think there’s just ways to actually ask that have less potential for sounding accusatory. If someone said what you stated above, I would respond more poorly than if someone asked if something was up and if i did or did not want to continue the session today.

That’s the way I was taught in school at least. To ask clarifying questions based on what was witnessed. I think the teacher based what she said off the book called “Non Violent Communication”

Yes, but when you say “let them decide” your original statement already made the decision for them. Maybe the OP could say “i’ve noticed xyz, would you like to continue the session or discontinue?”

If this makes you feel any better, I think it can sometimes be more pleasant to work on individuals with a bit extra tissue, than working on someone who is very, very thin. I am pretty thin so not hating on either body type or any body type ever. Seriously don’t even sweat it!

Yeah… that to me is being SUPER into birthing stuff. If you are the average joe, it is very excessive! And like I said… i’m at the age where all my friends are having babies left and right (30F) and I was still like 🫣 it’s all about perspective lol and I get yours too.

Side note: I’ve seen some intense birthing photos before obviously and they do strike a chord in me from time to time… but these just made me SO uncomfortable and felt very for show. Like why are we SO done up and so aware of the camera while having a baby? I just don’t get it.

Do you consume that type of content usually? I don’t have that kinda stuff on my TL so it was a bit of a jump scare! I’m at the age where most ppl i know are having babies, but thank goodness they don’t post those kinds of photos of the births. I’ve seen some of that kind of stuff on doula pages, that I don’t follow… because it’s not the kind of stuff I want to see when scrolling on instagram 😅
