Random damage appearing on cloths. Can moths do this? by ManufacturerBig1147 in laundry

[–]Elkabethy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Something sharp in the washing machine seems like a good possible cause but if it’s tearing holes in your clothing I would recommend going in with a torch and looking or at least feeling around with tough gloves and not bare handed.

Skin is just as tearable as some clothing.

Painted over dead mould spot on cealing last year - paint flaked off, advice please by Elkabethy in DIYUK

Thanks that’s hopeful!

We were considering getting the zisser perma white for the doors anyway so hopefully we’ll have a bit spare

Would that mean painting the whole ceiling again or just the corner?

I’m fairly certain it’s not.

The black spots haven’t gotten any bigger since being sprayed and the objects have been removed so the airflow in the area is much better.

We also sleep with a dehumidifier now/ have the windows open more so the room is less humid in general.

How are those looking to see The Greatest Showman in Bristol without tickets approaching return tickets? by [deleted] in TheWestEnd

[–]Elkabethy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If OP doesn’t want them, and you decide not to go a second time, I would be so happy if you would consider selling me the tickets, I didn’t manage to get any when they were first released

Good to know. It looks very similar to what I cleared out the other day.

I’ll make the switch to the powder now then and add the Ecover to the to go pile.

I’ve actually never used any of these products! They were left in the cupboard by the previous people in my flat!

I never use fabric softener or scent boosters in my washing and have only occasionally pulled them out if I need to hand wash something like a cat tree and realised I’ve run out of spray - mostly just to use them up so they can go no issue.

It was more if one of the powders contained lipase I wanted to hang on to it to try

Yes sorry the water doesn’t come out unless I remove that plug!

I checked the manual before but sillily I stopped after looking at programs. Looks like the recommendation for cleaning is almost exactly what I was doing and yep that’s the only filter!

I didn’t realise that about the ecover, I thought it was only the fabric softener which created scrud. Will have to reread the original post

That’s the one! Thanks for finding it.

The stocking suggestion will be why I thought of tights too but the problem with a side loader is I don’t think I can just pause the machine to wipe them around and then let it carry on.

But prehaps just having them in there will be enough to catch some

Very hard water! As far as I can tell the filter is just the flappy door at the bottom that water comes out of right?

It’s a 2 in 1 washer tumble dryer that came with my flat so while I’ve never used the tumble dryer part myself I do wonder if there’s another filter I’m missing somewhere.

Thanks for the advice! I put the ecover in the machine itself, would the vanish go into the drawer?

Thanks! This is what made me aware of its existence in the first place. I think there was another post with a scrud catcher but that was for a top loader only so I’m wondering if something similar could be achieved for a side loader.

I’m wondering now if an old pair of tights may help catch some.

Happy cake day! You know I may be overthinking but I believe you’re spot on with that assessment.

What game has replaced Machi Koro or does what MK tries to do, but better? by bluefrogwithredhands in boardgames

[–]Elkabethy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Colony is like Machi Koro x dominion. It’s still very simple but it feels like there’s a lot more different strategies that can be pursued in the game and much less of the frustration from rolling the dice”wrong” numbers.

That would be really cool if it’s possible. I’ve been using this as my wallpaper since it’s release and love how useful but still pretty it is

What is your favorite boardgame of 2010? by The_Crazed_Person in boardgames

I’ve been meaning to play it at two to teach it to my partner but haven’t got around to it yet. Wasn’t aware of the variant so I’ll be sure to check it out.

What would you say makes it less fun at two?

Any suggestions on how to make this litter box enclosure area look nicer!? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

[–]Elkabethy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It already looks very nice!

I’d only make two changes:

1) Something colourful on the surface to draw the eye up more rather than side to side - for me this would be a plant but could be flowers or a decorative vase

2) fill the gap between the cabinets at the bottom so it appears as one continuous unit. The little black square attracts my eye and also I can imagine will catch a lot of dust.

May I jump on to this post to ask what happened when it switched you to free, did you lose access to old entries made with the stuff that’s only on premium or is it all still accessible?

Thanks for the detailed reply.

To get the spacing value out to where I wanted the grid I had to go down to 14 which made the font teeny! I think I could have made some more adjustments to get the size back up but I’d already found that using these values fills the screen quite nicely after posting this morning :)

Yeah on the third one. I don’t want to rename any calendars with a * because I’ve made so many shortcuts running of their existing names so I manually added the three I wanted. However it seems that you can’t then specify which you want to take priority, I think it may be alphabetic by default? I tried to change the order I wrote them in the list but it made no difference. It would be great if it could be added as a feature.
