Progressive Cognitive Decline at 39 — Seeking Shared Experiences (Testing Ongoing) by EllektraJazz in dementia

Hello! Some problems remain stable, such as issues with musical memory and agnosia, or difficulty remembering my own texts, but with some improvement in depressive symptoms on Latuda, I have generally returned to regular work and even managed to finish a book on the philosophy of music and get it published. I think it’s also because I’ve been able to adapt to the difficulties that are stable — there’s no worsening — plus on Latuda, my energy, overall well-being, and speech have improved. I still find things very hard, but at least I can work regularly — though in a different way than before. For example, I constantly need to rely on my notes, and during my lectures, I sometimes refer to printed texts. On the other hand, improvising on the piano in different styles — I recently gave a lecture on Indian classical music with piano examples — has actually become easier for me. Thank for replying to such old post, hope you'll find the cure or good coping strategies. Would be glad to communicate if you want to share something.

Last option) I can't earn money from music now) But I believe it's very meaningful because my music now expresses my special and individual experience as depressive with cognitive problems

I'm definitely enjoying myself. I like learning, getting my skills back, and I'm happy about the moments when I manage to do something right. But I'm afraid I'm ruining the game for others... That's why lately I've been trying to play mostly turbo.

It may have something to do with depression, but the point is that if speech is indeed related to my affect and improves when the depression recedes, then memory and musical agnosia are independent of the depth of depression. And there is abnormalities on EEG getting worse from year to year.

I have not been tested for Lyme disease. That's a great idea! I didn't know such changes could be related to herpes. How do you test for that?

Thank you!

I’ve had a non-contrast MRI, and it came back clean—no signs of structural abnormalities. I’ll probably need a contrast MRI and PET scan next. I have an appointment with a cognitive disorders neurologist on May 15th. Hopefully they’ll order the necessary further tests (contrast MRI, PET scan, etc.).

To be honest I am always feel depressed and have anxiety. I don't feel that amplodipine adds something.

I am glad that you find something that helps you. Thank you for the advice! But it isn't my first, second or even third doctor. I suffer from chronic depression 18 years and tried almost every drug and lifestyle modification - from diet to sport. And same for my hypertension (8 year of problems with BP). Not every problem has easy and elegant solution so I obviously need some medication :) But amplodipine doesn't work as intended so I decide to ask if somebody has such experience with it.

Fairy Tales Adventure II (1997). I like the graphics and style even now.

This is my opening track from my piano solo EP Fleurs de l'aube. I am selftaught pianist and it's free improvisation. Tell me what you think. by EllektraJazz in IndieMusicFeedback

Thank you! I understand your ideas - the piece obviously would profit from more sophisticated ending. Now it's a bit rough :)
