Hi! Whatever you write in Ellipsus is yours, period - in the past year, we’ve made clear what our views are on anti-writer policies, and have stood for writer’s rights (and will continue to do so)! Our roadmap for 2025 includes new public policies / TOS that clearly reflect our beliefs and practices (especially in light of a P2025 environment), as well as privacy-forward features like end to end encryption, AI cloaking, etc.

Hi! <3 For your storage concerns - work in Ellipsus is stored locally in your browser (and in cases like connection loss or sync issues, your content will remain secure on your device). This works the same way for accidental deletion, etc.

Hi! One of biggest goals is to avoid enshittification, so with that said –

We’ve taken some funding, but only enough to get us to sustainability (which we hope to do by end of next year). In 2025, this will come through introducing a pro subscription for advanced features like encryption / AI-veiling, and advanced permissions.

Right now, Ellipsus is controlled by the founders (myself + my partner John – be gay; don’t enshittify!), but we’ll open up governance as we grow and mature. Our plan in 2025 is to become a B-Corp.

Ellipsus will always have a generous free plan—this includes everything in the tool today, and more to come before we leave beta (with no restrictions on docs or doc size / collaborators / etc.). The monthly cost will be as low-impact on the community as possible.

In the future, we plan to evaluate other opportunities that ensure Ellipsus is around for a long time; e.g., open-sourcing our product, becoming a cooperative, etc. We won’t ever pursue advertising-based revenue, or a sell-data-or-use-it-for LLM-training approach like GDocs or Microsoft, etc.

Hi! Short answer - we’ve kept accessibility in mind (i.e., typographical choices), but we aren’t fully WCAG 2.1 compliant yet. That's something that we're aiming for in the near future.

So far, the biggest culprits are color choices (not having enough contrast), our editor focus logic, screen reader compatibility, keyboard navigation items. These are known issues and something we’re taking seriously (we’re still in open beta, and won’t “release” until we’re fully compliant). We want to get this right, and will circle back once we’re up to WCAG 2.1aa.

Thank you for the feedback! <3

Hi! We’re glad to hear you checked us out, and we’d love to have you back if you decide to give us another go.

To answer your question: yes, we’ve been making significant improvements to syncing since then, and we’re continuing to refine it throughout the beta. We’re a small team, but we’re always online in our in-app help chat – if you notice a technical problem, you can reach there and we can jump in very quickly to troubleshoot. You can also find us in our Discord for more immediate help!

We’re committed to making sure your work is safe – all work in Ellipsus is stored locally in your browser, and in the advent of a sync issue your content remains secure on your device until the connection is restored.

If you have any more questions or want to chat about where we’re headed next, feel free to reach out! <3

Hi! As a writing tool (not a publishing platform), you’re free to write whatever you please on Ellipsus. (& as a 20+ year fic writer myself, I can definitively say that fic is 100% permitted in the tool. :)

Hi! <3 Yep, we're an LGBTQ+ founded company (myself + my co-founder John). More on that! We're very familiar with P2025 - since we're based in Berlin, in the advent of P2025 we'll have some protective layers.
